Side cameras are horrible
I have a 2018 Miramar 35.3 and the side cameras are horrible most of the time they are very cloudy in certain times of the day and different positions of the sun. Has anyone done an upgrade or something else to improve this. There are times they are totally useless.
Thanks

I agree...quite often the glare is such that the camera is useless. However, I've never been accustomed to the side cameras and rely on the convex mirrors. I always feel like moving my eyes to the monitor is distracting anyway and feel much more comfortable using the mirrors.
I would like to find a way to use the cameras when camped to view the sides, particularly door side.

The 5" Axxera is not for me. I need a monitor in my field of view. A nice 10" full color. Works well with the side cameras and the new rear camera (included with the monitor)

That is the exact spot I have my 10" rear view camera.
For the OP - my side cameras are the same way. Sometimes cloudy and sometimes as clear as they can be. But even with my 10" monitor on the dash I much prefer to rely on my mirrors - so much so that I've given serious thought to disabling the side mirror triggers so my monitor is always looking aft uninterrupted.

That's why I use the mirrors. Properly adjusted, they can't be beaten. Using a monitor to drive is not natural for me and I barely use it.

I have a 9" monitor and disabled thes side view trigger wires
I have the monitor set to 3 screen option. Rear camera takes left half of screen. Left camera upper corner and right lower corner
I'm never in a hurry to change lanes but I look at the monitor and then use the mirrors

Another one for using the mirrors.

I am for using mirrors and cameras..... you can never have enough visibility.
When I had my Outlaw 29H, I had an issue where the cameras that were built into the mirrors would fog up a highway speeds in the summer months as they cooled from the airflow and condensation formed over the lens. As a result the image was very cloudy. The cameras they used were cheap and tend to leak and allow moisture to get inside of the housing.
The cameras they used on my Magnitude are much better and I have no issues with fogging.

I had one of my side cameras warranty replaced as the seal in the camera allowed moisture to come in and cause the video to be cloudy. The new camera looks really great. If it was out of warranty i would probably do what others suggest and just buy some sort of aftermarket camera. Also- the new camera i have has a hood built over it which helps a lot w/ sun glare.

I also dislike the side cameras. It was unnatural to look right when changing to the left lane and I hated the way my blinker would mess with the radio (after a delay). Therefore, I bought a separate monitor which always shows the rear view and use my side mirrors in conjunction with the rear view and that gives me a complete view. I have the Vegas 24.1 so I feel comfortable with this setup but with a longer rig, I may need something different.
