Here are a couple of "Mods" that I've been using recently (not really mods per se as nothing is modified):
  • For getting the safety chains hooked up on the dolly the Wife graciously decided to sacrifice an old yoga mat. Now I just throw the mat down on the ground and lay on that when hooking up the car to the dolly. Makes a world of difference not laying on the rocks, gravel, etc. Mat rolls up compact which takes very little space in the RV. (Also use it to kneel on when hooking/unhooking the waste tanks drain.)
  • I put a knife battery disconnect on the Bolt's 12V battery--have to disconnect it when towing. As a safety when the battery is disconnected I put about 4 rubber bands around the knife part just in case it inadvertently closes (hasn't yet but this is cheap insurance). The rubber bands will keep the knife from making contact and closing the circuit.

Thanks Jamie for the comments !

For those of you who do not have a Yoga mat....we went to Menards and picked up a Garden Mat … same principle … perhaps not as large, it works when Ron is getting down on the ground to hookup the hose to the tanks.

I've had a kneeler pad for a year or so but still had trouble getting up from kneeling position, when dumping tanks, etc. So, got myself this gadget. Folds up and can be inverted for use as a seat. Works great. Under $30 on ebay or amazon.

Seat Height Modification

We purchased a 2018 Vegas 25.3 in June and the first thing I noticed is the front seats are too tall. I am right at 6' tall but even at my height, I began to have a lot of discomfort due to pressure on the back of my legs. After searching here and other sites, I found that many owners are purchasing more comfortable after market seats to address the seat comfort problem. I came up with a different and much less expensive solution by lowering the seat risers.

After a bit of searching, I found that RecPro carries the exact same swivel riser as the ones used in the Vegas/Axis line of vehicles, in different heights. They have the OEM 10" riser, a 7" riser and a 5.5" riser. I opted for the 7" riser and it turned out to be a perfect fit for both myself and the DW. Now when my feet are flat on the floor, my weight is being supported primarily by my gluteus maximus and not putting pressure on the back of my legs. Total investment with shipping was $198 and about 3 hours of work. Not an easy task but well worth the effort.

Bonus, I can now see the speedometer at any steering wheel tilt position.

Please note: Do your research and do this modification at your own risk. It is not a simple task.

My Version of a Step Well Cover

DW wanted a cover for the entry step well so this is what I came up with. I used 3/4" plywood, 1/8" X 1" aluminium angle stock and close to 40 screws. Turned out better than I expected and definitely strong enough to stand on.

Great looking cover. Looks better than a stock item.
Concerning the seat height, I did the same as you and makes the ride more comfortable now.

mcr1010, thanks for the compliment. My lack of patience usually gets the better of me but I was able to hold out on this one.

I'm still scratching my head on why Thor made those seats so high. Anyone tall enough to be comfortable in those seats wouldn't fit on the bed.

storing cables/hoses under Drivers Side basement storage

bit of a trip planned. moved to 4 storage reels for electrical and water cable/hose storage.
the green hose attaches to the outdoor shower by quick disconnect. it reaches all the way around the AXIS for washing bikes and the MH.

Just a picture I took today while in a traffic backup on the 40 near Winslow.
I happened to be behind a brand new semi trailer.

I love your entry cover. I might have to do this one soon.

Thanks.

This is a great ideal How do you roll them up? Are they electic? I dont see any crank on it.

Or is it one that you pull just right and its spring loaded to roll them up? Where did you get them at?

Thats wicked cool. Reminds me of the movie "The Fly". Like you looking though the eyes of an insect.

Well done Hammer, looks great. Where do you store it? Our old, half blind and deaf, Depends-wearing, geezer-dog fell into the "well" so I tossed a scrap 3/4 piece over the hole and just bungeed it to the folded counter top extension...very cheesy but got us by on the last trip.

I store it in the closet in the well where the larger table top is stored. It fits perfect in the excess space. My wife said the same thing, she doesn't want my old @$$ falling in the hole.

Cyclone vent an Vegas 24.2

Thinking it was Jamie that provided .the pdf plumbing schematic which shows the grey and black tank ventilation are one shared pipe. On the 24.1Vegas this exhaust vent is capped. It located on top of roof left side facing front. Right in front of the bathroom fan. After scrapping off the putty and sealant roof paint your left with the cap mount held down with 5 screws. Unscrew the cap and mount. The cyclone vent comes with a cheap little flimsy disk and 3 screws. There are no instruction. What I did is modify the one I just took off and found the cyclone fits just about perfect, the screw holes are already there for you in roof . All I had to do was dremmel the hole a little bigger circle for the cyclone. If you have a 24.1 Thor Vegas and haven’t done this mod get the Cyclone plumbing vent over the other option if you have dremmel to use the existing hardware. I’ll throw a pic here in a couple days.

I used to install Cyclone vents on my previous RV's. But, when I installed one on the Vegas I found that turbulence was created at hwy. speeds most likely from the vent cover or shower dome. This caused the rotating top of the Cyclone to jump up and down making a noticeable sound and eventually nearly destroying the bearing part of it. I now have a static Siphon Roof Vent Cap which is doing fine. YMMV if they changed the roof vents on later models.

Dial Mod

A tiny mod to better see the indicator lines on the console knobs. Used a white acrylic paint pen.

Much easy to see while wearing sunglasses and in low light.

Windshield sunscreen

Hello everyone, I added the windshield sun screen today. I was a little nervous about drilling holes for the twist fasteners. It went well. I still have to add the side window sun screen. Sun Pro claims it will knock out 94% of the sunlight, heat and ads privacy during daylight hours. We should be able to enjoy the view out of the front. I am also hoping it will aid with the A/C unit to keep up on the hot days.

Wow a 3rd manufacturer of window screens. I was also nervous about drilling holes in our coach so I stuck with stick on velcro (we have a Sunguard RV Windshield cover). We've been using it now for a good 3 years and they do decrease the light and heat in the daytime. At night remember to close the shades as people can see into the coach when the inside lights are on and its dark out.

The other manufacturer is Magneshade. When our Sunguard shade "wears out" I'll be replacing it with a Magneshade (These are held on with magnets you put on the inside of the window--no drilling required).
