Kay,

I just checked, the Hummingbirds are out of stock...I hope they get restocked.

I have a 6000 peak / 3000 watt continuous inverter and it works well but I will need to install a couple more house batteries because the only lasted a couple hours with the TV and Satellite dish receiver and Ref running.

Did you do the install yourself? I'm looking to put one in my Vegas to run the tv only for tailgating. I am not running the frig. so I won't need to add extra batteries.

Center Console Upgrades 24.1

Decided to clean up the center console after a few trips out in our 2015 24.1.

1. Cleaned up the iPhone connections to remove the bundle of external wiring required to link to the radio. This involved removing the front panel remote mounts and bringing the single lighting cord up through a new hole. I trimmed out the new hole with a desk grommet.

2. Replaced both 12v sockets with dual USB charge ports. Just opened up the existing holes with a dremmel and then it was plug and play.
3. Hard-wired in the inverter and mounted the remote power switch in the hole left by removing the HDMI panel. Just had to file the hole to fit.

These are two posts I did some time ago on the inverters I installed in my Vegas and then in my new Axis. In my Vegas, I installed it in the cabinet above the sink so I could run my inside TV. If you want to run your ourside TV, it would be a short wire run directly from the house batteries to an inverter in a compartment under your TV and then wires from the inverter to the TV.

Chassis Battery Charger/Maintainer

I got a Black and Decker Maintainer/charger. It has 3 ways to hook up. I'm interested in using the 12volt plug-in hookup. If I'm on shore power is it safe to run the charger thru the 12 volt plug on the dash? Will it charge/maintain that way if the key is in the off position?

I picked up a solar charger today and was told it will NOT work on the 12V plug in with the key in the off position. I will find a pathway to run the cable under the dash and into the engine compartment and hook up directly to the battery. This is the preferred/recommended way anyways.

Jimbo -- your chassis battery should charge when you are on shore power. Is yours not and that's why you are using the charger when on shore powrr?

Battery Charger

My 2015 Axis charges both the house batteries and chassis battery when it is plugged into shore power. There should be no need for a auxiliary 2 amp charger. I have verified this with a volt meter. When the Axis is plugged into shore power the engine battery and house batteries jump up to 13.3 volts. A fully charged battery on its own will only measure 12.7 volts at rest. I believe the converter has 3 charging rates Fast, Medium, and Slow just for maintaining the batteries at full charge. Its a good system if it works properly.

Jimbo,

I got a little HUD that plugs into the ODB just above your right knee when you are sitting in the driver's seat. It was a little cheapie from China ($25), but when driving it shows speed, RPM. engine temp (in centigrade) and it shows Battery Voltage in the Heads up Display View.
When the RV is hooked up to shore power is only shows the Battery Votlage. I checked it by plugging a little 12 Volt checker that uses the cigarett lighter in the dash, they both show the same (usually 13.3 or so).

So atleast on our 2016 Vegas 24.1 the Chassis and the House batteries get charged when on shore power.

Doc

I cured small shower issue in 24.1 Vegas by using a piece of polyline tubing that spreads curtain so it does not stick. Used self stick 3M clips to hold it. So far it works great.

Could you post a couple of pics if you have a chance. I'm certainly interested in gaining a little more space if possible.
Thanks

Wink 2015 Vegas 24.1 Shower Mod

While in the shower I was looking at the shower curtain track and began to ponder.. Why not have the curtain bend at a 90 degree angle instead. So after a bit of tinkering here is what i came up with. By moving the track and the shower head i have a bit more room. Hope this helps

interesting.....just out of curiosity, what year is your 24.1 ? ...
we have a 2016 24.1 Axis, and as well documented, our shower has the ARC shower rod.
Good job on yours !
