Axxera to iPad to fire tablet

I was hoping not to have to ask for help but here goes. Axxera AV6158HM in 2017 Thor 29FE. IPAD and Fire Tablet are a couple of years old not sure of generation number. I want to use a tablet as the screen for my back up camera. Cable seems to be no help. When I tried Bluetooth it asked for a PIN CODE for the Axxera? Any advise appreciated. The title should be IPAD or Fire Tablet ether hookup will be fine

Pin code works and IPad is now connected but I知 having no luck pushing the correct buttons to have the Axxera transmit back up camera to iPad.

Doesn't work that way. You now have the ability to play sounds/music from your tablet to the radio if you select Bluetooth on the radio.

I thought I saw people using their iPad as a back up camera monitor? Was I mistaken?

I have an hdmi outlet on the dash can I get the back up camera feed from there. If so I could use hdmi to mini hdmi cable to solve my problem.

Check your Axerra manual: I believe that is just for DVD out and/or Tablet/Phone mirroring TO the radio.

Sure there is: The radio is just a display; there is an RCA input into the back of the radio for that display from an external source (your backup camera). Get an RCA splitter cable so you can keep the video to the radio and take that split feed to whatever device you want; as long as it accepts a standard composite video signal from a RCA jack.

But how does the RCA feed get into the Fire Tablet or the IPad. Would this not require the purchase of some sort of monitor? See my problem. I was hoping to Bluetooth or cable from the Axxera to a tablet.

I doubt that you will find a reliable way to see the backup camera from an Ipad or the Fire tablet, even if the apps exist. You would need another device to convert the RCA input over to bluetooth and then find an app that is specifically designed for that purpose. The cheap Axxeras they stick in these RVs certainly can't do it. I replaced the stereo the very first week of ownership. Bought a Pioneer with Android Auto capabilities.

The simplest solution would be to purchase a small 7" monitor and mount it to the dash. Unplug the camera from the stereo and into the monitor. For power I used the red lead from the stereo. Wired it into a on/off switch so I can easily turn off the monitor. I think I paid $70 for the monitor. I'm sure there are cheaper monitors but the one I bought can actually display four inputs at once. I might eventually add some additional cameras.

And all of the problems would be solved if the Axxera had a video output. Does the Pioneer you bought have a video output so it can be connected to a tablet.

It does have video output, but only to send video from the built-in dvd player out to a device that can take a video input. Most tablets can't take inputs like you are thinking. I bought the stereo because I can plug my phone into the USB port and view Google Maps and music on the stereo screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=kpKYks-17gM

Your problem is not with the radio not having video out: I told you how to get your video out. Your problem is that you are trying to get video into a device that has no video input. Video over Bluetooth is not a thing yet. You can see video on your tablets but only from devices that transmit it over WIFI AND you have to have an APP on your tablet to display the video.

There are any number of wireless cameras you can mount on the back of your MH, download their proprietary APP, connect your Tablet to the camera's SSID and display the video on your tablet all the time.

So I guess the answer is what I want is not being done with technology I want to use. I either need a camera to hook to my tablet or a monitor to hook to my video output. Thanks fellas

Thanks for the advise. The Garmin is definitely on my wish list. Does it take wires to hook the Garmin to the camera? Do you lose the ability to see the map on the Garmin when you have the camera view on? Sorry I知 hard to please but I want it all.

Garmin GPSs only connect to their proprietary wireless Garmin cameras as far as I can tell now-a-days. I believe they had made a GPS years ago with an RCA input, but no longer.

I have the Garmin backup camera on my Hurricane 29M. There is some wires to run but not difficult. But beware! The quality of the camera feed to the GPS, and I have the latest Garmin RV model, is extremely poor. Your better off to go with a dash mount independent monitor and quality camera.

Stay Safe!
