I've been trying to figure out how to describe my idea to you...
If you can imagine something about the thickness of the prop rod under the hood of a car: Now if that rod had a ninety degree bend at one end (with about a half-inch or so stub, and a hole for a cotter pin...
drill the appropriate sized hole for that stub to fit through in the bottom edge of the door ( ) place a washer down over the stub, put it through the hole, and then add a washer to the outside part of the stub, and the cotter pin...
The rod should easily lay up on the inside of the bottom edge of the door... you just need to figure out how long to cut it, so that you can prop it against something solid. holding it up on the door edge should be an easy thing to figure out.
Oh! One more thing... have it positioned so that the prop rod lays with it's sutb end at the front end of the door... if it were to drop loose while moving; it'd probably do a lot less damage when set up like this.
That's my half-baked idea... I hope that you can make something useful out of it.

Sounds a bit difficult for my skills and tools (right tool makes the job easy). However a search in Amazon for prop rod shows some promise. I really try to think things through before I start. It takes me three weeks of planning for a thirty minute job. Still appreciate all helpful comments.

The best of luck to you with this project!
Remember: "Measure fourteen times: cut just once"; and then take a stiff drink!

I use a (very slightly) more elegant version of the 2x4 idea: I got a couple of telescopic shower curtain rods (available in a couple of useful lengths) and keep them handy. The adjustable length comes in handy on un-even terrain.

...And if you ever have to hang a shower curtain: you're all set for the project!

Agree with keeping it simple, and supporting off ground is as simple as it gets. An adjustable aluminum rod or even a broom stick beats a 2X4. I’d make sure it had rubber end to keep from scratching finish.
If I wanted it elegant, which is highly subjective, I’d add one or two gas struts so that door will hang straight down while unattended (as in RV picture posted previously), or extend out at near 90 degrees out after being lifted. This requires a little skill to get it right. Something similar to example below, although it will require custom lower brackets.

This is what came to my mind. A car hood prop rod. mount to door and swing down to ground. Would need to cut to a workable length.

Its those three weeks of planning that makes the job 30 minutes. If you only spent 30 minutes planning then the job would take 3 weeks....give or take

I’m leaning toward the two pneumatic arm in the picture two posts above the problem then becomes how to find the right size supports and the mounting will be tricky bc the only solid surface is the thin rv side and the door is recessed into that surface. It would appear to need brackets to mount the supports then attach the bracket to the door. Until I figure this out it does made sense to go to a smaller support but just be careful and not bump into it. Don’t ask how I know it’s important not to bump it.

Here's what I did. It's a friction v latch from a old steamer chest I had laying around. I mounted a piece of pvc trim I had laying around to the inside and also moved the flush to it. Tom

Thank you!!! I knew someone had solved this problem for me. Looks like what I was thinking of exactly. I’ll make a study of your pic and may have some questions later. Thanks so much.

Mine is similar. I had the dealer mount the holding clips on the door, and the side of the slide, so when the slide is in that door stays up the way the others do. For the odd times that I have to dump a tank while camped, I just use a wooden dowel to hold it up, but most of the time I do those connections with the slide retracted.

My question is what do you call the locking hinge and where can I purchase one. I hope I can figure out the rest.

Sewer door
I bought a shower rod, you can expand it to the correct length and collapse it for easy storage, and the rubber ends keep it from slipping. Cheap and easy.

Hi! I have the FE29 also. My first coach. I had the same problem. Fixed it with a short nylon string and a hook that is shown in the picture attached. The hook is white, and holds 1 pound. Has been working well and the solution for me was VERY affordable.

I went through all that, and still had to kneel down to. Pull valves.
I installed cable actuators.
I mounted the handles in driver's side rear wheelwell.
Been working great

I just put a piano hinge on the left side of the door. It is now side hinged, problem solved!
