RV Fireplace Vs Wood Stoves: What’s Best?

What are the experts opinion on these?
Does anyone have one?

Solid fuel stove is likely to get you an insurance cancellation.
Same with outbuildings.
Get it in writing from your insurance carrier before proceeding with rv or anything other than home living area regarding solid fuel. Wood, pellets, coal etc.

And wood sucks enough that we don't use it.
Pellet shortages, either engineered or real on pellets
And wood itself sucks.

No exaggeration, we have 5,000 pine and cedar trees.
Last month I had 30 pulled down due to drought. Maybe eight cords of wood, maybe 20.
No wood burning for us. The economy of it is false for us.

I have installed several wood burners over the years, last few were high end wood burning inserts. Quadra-Fire 5100i was the most recent in the Branson home. If anyone is considering one they are the best and don't require a catalytic converter

To maintain coverage you have to have inspections and documentation of both installation and the device

Years ago we had a wood burning fireplace in a 5th wheel. Next one had a propane fireplace and the last several all electric

The downside of both wood and gas fireplace in the RV's was the fuel burn when we were staying for extended periods of time. Fuel became an issue either way.

In our home we have 4 wood burning fireplaces and one NG fireplace. The NG gets used the most due to flipping the switch as opposed to carrying in wood. We do have ash pits in the basement for the wood burners so other than cleaning it out not a big deal that way

We do enjoy the warmth of a real fire but in the Motor Home the electric does just fine

Most RV insurance companies as DF noted will cut and run if you even think about it

For the real fire experience traveling we carry a SS wood burner and also an LP fire ring. Depending on where we are as some places don't allow a real wood fire now

I can not believe that anyone would be seriously considering or advocating build a fire in an RV. RVs are a fire hazard tinder box as they are without having a wood burning fireplace or pot bellied stove inside. In an RV, propane heating devices all vent to the outside. The cooking stove is not a heating device, period. An installed electric fireplace which is really just a wall mounted radiant heater with fancy flickering lights does a pretty good job of breaking the chill. Course it helps to have a well sealed non-drafty RV to hold that heat. (another issue).

Just because a product is sold and has advocates doesn't mean it's safe or appropriate. The "As seen on TV" statement is not a reliable endorsement.

This says it all...

Let’s look at the cons of a RV fireplace:

- Constant tender love and care to keep the fire burning.
- Needs a lot of maintenance to keep it clean and prevent the wood stove from burning down your rig.
- Carbon monoxide risk (the silent killer).
- May potentially void your insurance policy.
- Needs to be vented outside of the rig. So this means you need to cut a hole in the roof or wall of your RV in order to route the chimney outside.

This option is geared towards a "Tiny House" that never gets moved
