Dog house Temp over 145 degrees F

Great thread folks! My wife and I both have burned our feet on the dog house surface. I measured it at over 145 while driving. OSHA says anything over 140 is hazardous. The dealer technician is going to try to fix the insulation, but is checking with Thor first. Now I have an idea of the right fix.

Ours was very warm, but not that hot! You must not have any insulation at all The double layer of DynaMat keeps our doghouse the same temp as the surrounding surfaces, no heat transfer at all.

Installed dynamat over existing. Works great. Really cuts noise and heat.

Well, after a 1600 mile trip to Yellowstone, we were able to evaluate the mod.
Heat really wasn't an issue but the AC did seem to respond better. Noise was a big issue as there was a lot of engine noise migrating up through the dash. The FatMat definitely cut that a bunch. Very happy with the result.

We just drove 1400 miles from Dallas to upstate NY and the reduction in both extreme heat and engine noise in the Axis is very noticeable. Very impressed with Dynamat. Well worth the cost and effort to apply. 👍🏻

For just the dog house on the Axis, how much extreme and hoodliner do I need?

I ordered the following and had some of each leftover. Per Dynamat support, apply the Xtreme first and the Hoodliner over that.

Hoodliner 11905
Xtreme door kit 10435

Thanks, I saw your post on the first page and that was very helpful. I did a bunch of googling last night and was lost between the various options.

I think I'll make this my weekend project.

Have you done anything beyond the doghouse yet?

I wasn't sure either on what to buy, so I emailed Dynamat to confirm and they were real helpful. I've only done the doghouse so far.

I used Fatmat but once I got the doghouse off, I did as much of the bottom side of the floor as I could reach and of course the doghouse. Been over a year and it's still a hearing to the surfaces still. The Axis was fairly new so it was pretty clean still.
