Bilstein Comfort or Koni FSD

Looking to upgrade shocks in a few weeks.

If anyone has experience with either, I would love to hear about it.

Bilsteins

TO,

We used to have a 25' Sprinter MH. It would rock side to side when we turned onto the road. We installed Bilstein Shocks to alleviate the rocking. The shocks made a difference; the rocking was minimized to an acceptable level. It is a good product. I asked a local shop to install them. I paid $40/shock. It took them 20 minutes to install while parked in the parking lot. Seemed like a win-win to me.

Did you get the Bilstein Comforts?

The more data sheets I read about each shock, the more agonizing the decision.

Sometimes real world feedback is so much better than data sheets

I just completed the install of Fox shocks and new sway bar. After researching all the shock options, I chose Fox through VanCompass (https://vancompass.com/collections/s...-2wd-2007-pair) .

Between the two, wind and bumps are handled so much better. I'm very glad I did it. Since I like the improvement so much, I am now considering replacing the struts. I didn't consider it originally because I figured the weight on the front or the RV was probably similar to a standard sprinter whereas the rear of the rv has much more weight and it's obvious the suspension is maxed out.

Also, the stock shocks have no business being on our RV's. Just one more thing Thor cuts corners on... If I didn't get such a good deal on my Thor, I'd be mad about spending this money, but I bought mine "used" with 1400 miles on it for a great discount.

I went with the Koni FSD shocks based on the recommendation of a very trusted couple of long-time motorhome buddies of mine. There was a dramatic and immediately noticeable difference in ride comfort from the get-go over the stock Ford shocks. That being said, I have never tried the Bilstein Comforts, so I cannot say which is better.

Bilstein and Koni are both excellent quality shocks, I've used both and you won't go wrong with either one!

I went with the Koni's on front and rear. Handling improvement was dramatic. From the research I've done it looks like the Bilsteins are softer than the Koni's and some have felt the Koni's are too harsh. I haven't experienced that and in my case, the Bilsteins would have been too soft. They are much better than the OEM versions, but for me the Koni's were worth the extra cost.

I have a 2017 Thor Quantum WS31 and I want to replace the shocks. I'm thinking of going with the Bilstein, but have received conflicting part numbers and I'm getting confused. Has anyone out there purchased the Heavy Duty Bilsteins and if so which part number? Thanks.

The 857 is recommended for the rear of the long wheel base class C

The 570 for the front.

I have the same coach.

I just checked part numbers, these are the exact same shock I put on my 1998 Chateau. I purchased from AJUSA, then had Les Schwab install them. Labor was $200. They felt really good.
