Installing dual Tornado black tank washer outers.

Thor Forums - View Single Post - I want to start a new thread about nothing, and let it run...

Fairly easy but it was a little traumatic drilling the holes.
With some helpful hints from me along the way, I'd have let a 10yr old do it.
(we sure would have first practiced on something besides my black tank)

Pictures and details are in the link.

Were you have a problem dumping before... Is that why you are using the Tornado?

We have a santi flush on our RV. I used it when we dumped the first time. It took me a while to dump the tank for sure. I kept on having an issue with toilet paper not going down the bottom of the toilet. It appears to have some type of plastic barrier preventing the toilet paper to go straight into the tank. I made a little tool to help the toilet paper enter the tank.

If it works as well for you as our San-T-Flush system works: Congratulations!

Wouldn't a stick have worked?

No problems, just an anticipation of potential problems.

I'd rather take slight action now than complain later.

(it took ten minutes extra to install the second unit since I was already down there. I'd suggest it as a 'why not')

That's a very interesting video!
For the record: the San-T-Flush system also spins...
I've never seen either of mine not do a great job of spinning around inside the tank... Ir almost sounds like a carwash in there!

I finished the plumbing for these.
I'm very happy with it.
Pics and details are in the link.

That's why I add about a half-cup of dishwashing soap to the tank: before firing mine up.

May I suggest connecting two short hoses from the Tornadoes into your "Y"? Then the "Y" can be hung up high to allow it to drain naturally into the tank? The water flow would be a lot smoother into the Tornadoes. My 2

Punchline:
I would appreciate all of my mod posts to be second guessed and improved upon by any of the 700 people who stop by for a look. I have a narrow set of skills to apply. We will all benefit from a scope wider than mine.

Now my standard verbosity:

It is technically upside down, but unless someone wants to drill a hole in their outside wall to install the seperately purchased intake, upside down is about the only way to do the install near the top of the tank(the coach floor is directly on top of the black tank in all but few coaches), and I'm keeping it simple using off the rack standard fittings.

I try to make sure my posts are indicative, not dictatorial...just a seed of thought....
I'll spark an notion, sparked rv owner will take a look, and adapt to their circumstance with their own adapted notions, just like you helpfully did.

I should have been more clear:
The tornado kit comes with a six foot(ish) long piece of hose that is easily adjusted for length and has a mount for attaching it to the coach. The stuff I used is not needed at all.
The right way to do this would be to use the hoses supplied, then the y which will hook directly to shore water.

So, thanks for input and betterment. I expect it, yet seldom get it. I look at a forum like a community. Your contribution is one I seldom see yet I expect dozens on each of my posts.

I'm hoping this community will come together with additions/edits/contributions to my projects... But I think it is in vain I wait.

I sure don't post these things for my benefit(actually I do. The benefit I hope for is what you typed, an improvement or path change presented.)

Sorry my attached photo may have led you down a wrong path. I just used it as an example of a short hose. Your photos appeared to have enough room to install two short hoses (modify the ones you got with the kit even) then into the wye... all kept 'under' the floor and then you mentioned adding the solenoid, etc. I was not inferring for you to mount the inlet to the exterior. In your photos I had hoped you had enough room "upside down" to keep all this hidden.

Your mention of restrictions just had me thinking of a possibly smoother water flow to the Tornadoes.
