Wes,

Are you swapping out the Axxerra for the Jensen or did your coach come with the 212 from the factory?

"Dittoes" all the way. The Jensen JRV-215 is a quantum leap in technology and reliability over the 212. I know you'll enjoy it . . .

Hi all, newbie here. Well my JRV212 has been replaced twice. It is back in at the dealer now getting "the new upgrade model". I asked if that is the 215 and they didn't know yet, still waiting for it to come in. What ever they install, hope it is better than the 212 model. My warranty is up soon so hope this issue goes away.

Brake wire connection on JRV215N

How did you determine that the "Brake" wire on the 215N connects to ground? In the process of installing mine, replacing a Jensen VR209TP. I did not understand the reference in JamieGeek post to connect this wire to brake switch or ground. Just want to be sure and not burn up a new unit. Thanks, Gary

I figured it had to be hooked to ground because I had it hooked to 12V and the radio wouldn't let stuff work, so I grounded the wire and then it worked.

You know: try it.

To be a bit clearer than my snarky post above: The "Brake" wire on the radio is designed to prevent you from operating some functions without the parking brake engaged (like watching a video). Its a safety feature.

Thus it is supposed to be connected to a switch connected to the parking brake. I wasn't sure if it was an active high (12V) or active low (0V) signal so I tried either one. I'm not to concerned with this particular safety feature since any video watching while going down the road will be done on the main TV by my son--not me driving.

Correct - the unit needs a logic "low" on the BRAKE wire to enable the DVD player.

Enjoy your new 215N!

Jamie,

On another thread there is a discussion about the rear camera and the Axxera. I went to RearViewSafety.com to look up the RVS-770 Back Up Camera that came with my Vegas. The reason I bring it up on this thread is that the company says there are three wires coming from the Camera: Video (Yellow), DC12V (no color given) then Audio-Option (White). The promo print out says that the RVS-770 has a built in microphone...maybe they just never connected it to the radio????

Have you or any others that have pulled the Axxera or looked at the camera leads seen an extra white RCA Plug coming off the Rear Camera? We are having one heck of a Thunderstorm right now so I am not messing with the RV. I seem to remember a recent post that showed how the three cameras share the one VIdeo in on the Axxerra. I plan to find that post and then go looking for the white RCA Plug.

I'll try to post the User's Manual on my next post.

My unit had the Jensen JRV-212 in it. I've never seen an Axxera radio--other than glancing at one in a newer Axis/Vegas unit at a camper show.

The camera plugs in our unit were custom Jensen plugs with all the wiring in them which don't resemble the RCA plugs at all.

Jamie,

Thanks, I am hoping that THor just did not connect the white audio wire from the Backup Camera. I'll get into the dash tomorrow with my first cup of coffee and see what I can find.

Just looked and the way the rear camera is hooked to the control box for the three cameras uses the single Camera Cable (5 prong) and not the optional cable that gives the yellow (video), DC12V and White (audio) like in the manual.

Back to the drawing board.

Jamie, I had the same assumption that it is a safety feature. Thanks again for your assistance. Gary

Aero 77, does the 215NR 6.1 have the in-motion rear camera view? The old 212T had that, and I need this feature to keep an eye on my towed car. I understand the new unit sounds better. How well does the nav work? Really didn't need nav, since I have 3 already, but nice feature. I keep it on rear view at all times when driving. Does the Bluetooth work well? How easily does it sinc to cell phones? I ordered the 215NR, hoping it will be an improvement over the outdated one that crapped out in less than 2 years. Is the touch pad better and more responsive than the old unit? Should get new unit next week. Looked everywhere for the same features that the Jensen unit has, but RV radio/camera units are not very common. Thanx for any info you can pass on.

I'd like to get away from Jensen altogether and put in a Pioneer. Since most models only have a single camera input, it will be necessary to add a switcher or multiplexer to juggle my 3 cameras. Can anyone recommend one?

Wiring Harness

Hi All. I am having issues with my cameras not working in the jrv212T. I was going to upgrade to the JRV215N but wanted to check if it’s plug and play or if I also need a new wiring harness? Anyone have experience with this?
