i.e. - does travelling thru a state count or must you sleep in the state
to get credit?

Thanks.
Dont know of any rules but i think ill add the state if i stay a night

There is a website where you can make a virtual one here:
https://www.gasfoodnolodging.com/visitedstates/
(Note that on that page they mention that there now is an iOS app as well.)

Granted its not as obvious as the map on the side of the camper, and wouldn't spark the conversation unless you printed it out and put it in a window or showed people your phone.

For myself I use push pins on a Google Map.

I mounted our map on a piece of plexiglass & drilled holes in the corners & mounted on the inside of the entry door with 3m Command hooks so we could see it when the door was closed & everyone else could see it when the door was open. Unfortunately a huge gust of wind caught it, pulled the hooks off the door & broke it.
Our rule was if we spent the night in the state, so if we drove through the a state we made sure to spend the night.

Since we just got our MH last month and the weather turned on me, I haven't been able to get much done in the way of mods.

But, I did make some minor progress:

1) My "awesome" brother in law (mechanic for 35 years) helped me install the base plate, wiring & get the brake system all hooked up on our Jeep Wrangler (2 door). I went with Blue Ox: base plate & Alpha tow package.
Also got the Patriot II brake system.

2) I installed some 45* tire valve extenders on the front tires. It makes checking/filling those front tires much easier.

I have to drop the MH off Sat. morning for some warranty work (hydraulic line for auto levelers split), so additional progress will have to wait.

We don't have any trips planned until April, so I'm hoping we're all fixed up by then.

Hello from Ohio

Hello everyone,

I wanted to express our thanks for creating and maintaining this forum. We have learned a great deal and look forward to contributing as soon as we get a few things done/get caught up.

We picked up a 2018 Hurricane 29M in Oct 2017 just in time to make a couple trips and winterize it. We call our unit "Tom". We were just out looking, had test driven a few units sat down the deal with the "sales pitch" and noticed that Tom Petty had passed at age 66. That was it! We decided we didn't need to wait till we retire cause ya just never know. A couple weeks later and we drove him home.

Picking it up was an ordeal. It was a newer Camping World location and they were NOT ready for us (or anyone who has eyes). I provided fair warning that I am detail orientated and have been in the Quality Field for a long time. Didn't matter... We provided a list of over 20 issues from our first walk-through. All were addressed before we would even enter an office to close the deal. SOoo, it was well after closing time before we set off for home.

Our first trip was to Bridge Day just outside of Fayetteville WV. We have been attending for a long time and go with a good sized group of friends. With about 12 people climbing in and out of the unit, eating, cooking, sleeping, showering, using the ACs, generator, tvs, radios and driving through the mountains of the state. We shook him down HARD. Next trip was closer to home with our dogs on a cold rainy weekend, so we shook the furnace down as well. These efforts generated out a 22 item punch list and the unit has been with a different location (Still Camping World, closer to home and has been around for a long time) for about a month and a half.

Even with all of the above we love the unit. It works well and we feel we'll get it all ironed out.

has anyone here had an issue in the side walls that looks like they used a screw that is just a little too long? We have 3 such areas (one looks more like a 3" blister) and bumping into a reluctance to correct them. They may not be functional isses now but could crack as the unit ages and they are like sandpaper scratching across my soul as a Quality Geek and Car Guy.

We have seen many of the issues listed within this forum. The only thing I can think of was 2" of water in the cargo bay where the fresh water take is. It was the first thing we saw when we walked through and did not set the stage well. It appeared that someone left it open when washing the unit and didn't bother to clean it up. There was also screw ends sticking out of the draw in the entry step that were long enough to cut a finger.

Hope to have it home soon so we can get cracking on the mods and get all the "stuff" that is piling up under our pool-table into Tom and out from under foot.

Thanks again and looking forward to the joys or RVing.

Red,
Is the screw, blister on the inside or outside. Post some pics if you can. Either way its probably not good. I had a screw coming up on the floor and had the dealer fix it. They had to cut the flooring fix or remove the screw, (heating duct screw) then re-glue the flooring down. Was afraid they would screw it up but they did a great job. They hired a flooring specialist to do the job. I cant even tell where it was now.

Depending on where your screws are I might have it looked at by the dealer.

Good luck.

Jerry

Congratulations on your new coach coach and welcome to the forum!!!

As Jerry suggested, post pictures if you have a problem, helps to better identify a problem or a suggestion.

Hope you enjoy your coach as much as the rest of us do. Please feel free to ask questions, we all do!

Pokers & Blister

Jerry and Dave, Thanks for the warm welcome and you guys are fast!

So, my unit is still in the shop and we are in "discussions" over the Pokers and Blister. They are starting to provide options but it's taken a heaver approach than I think it should.

I'll call pokers the protrusions from what I think are screws that are just a little to long and the Blister what I think is a probable lamination issue. All are from the inside out, meaning you see them protruding from the gelcoat on the outside of the coach. None have broken through but fear cracking long term. I'll post photos once I get my hands on Tom (our unit). Am a bit of a shutter bug so should be able to represent.

I will also check every fastener and electrical connection I can get my hands on after reading through the forum. Have already found/corrected the backward wiring on the BR charging station as well as a few other mentioned issues. Hard to believe that after the automotive industry cleaned their act up that marine and RV have not caught up. Consistency in build quality and attention to detail is not so good.

The Mods posted here are outstanding. Am looking forward to tweaking my way through and adding along the way. The stock unit is quite functional. Over all, once we get the kinks smoothed out, I think we'll be happy campers

Thanks again and more to come.

Kevin

Hi Dave,
We are just outside of Dayton. A bit South and East of your location. If you are headed this way I recommend a stop by the Air Force Museum at Wright Patterson AFB. We are not far from there.

We can recommend other great locations around the Midwest for camping, hiking, boating, white water rafting, caving, kayaking or almost any other activity you guys might be interested in.

Welcome to the area.

Kevin

Thanks Kevin, appreciate the offer and may take you up on it when it gets a “little” warmer, actually make that a “lot” warmer!!! I’m a Southern boy and definitely not used to single digit temps and below zero windchills!!! Brrrrrrr!!!!

LOL!!

It's the Midwest. Stick around it will change ;-) It's one of the few consistences, ever changing weather.

Stay safe and warm. Enjoy your new home.
