Jerry,
Was the motor you replaced bad for sure? Was it a bad control box from the start?

Can you plug both motors directly to a battery to see if they work?

Both motors work fine. THe problem is the motor doesn't shut off when fully retracted. Well it shuts off after 5-10 seconds.
Tech said when the step is fully in (retracted) or out it causes a spike in the amps which tells the controller to stop power. Motor doesn't stop causing the ratcheting of the gears. Because it doesn't stop it causes the motor to heat up a bit which causes the amps to go up. This again tells the controller to stop power.
THis is what was explained to me by the tech. Ill change the control box and see what happens

Shawn,
The old motor wasn't bad. Well I don't believe its bad because the new motor is doing the same thing.
When I get the new control box and new gear box we'll see what fixes the problem.
I am going to put the old motor back on the old gear box. Ill replace the control box. If I still have the problem Ill replace the gear box.
Ill use whatever old parts that work and save the new parts for back up.
Wont get the new parts until two weeks from now, and Ill be on my 8 day fishing trip So Ill do the replacement when I get back

When closing the door the step would retract as normal but would continue closing even though the step was in. The motor and step kept moving making a loud racheting sound.
I removed the old motor. Looks good. Easy to remove. Three 10mm bolts and a two wire plug. Hardest part was removing the pin that holds the gear arm to the step. I found that pulling the wire plug while the motor is moving will stop the movement mid cycle. This takes the pressure off arm making it easy to remove the pin
Called LCI and tech confirmed it was the motor not the gear box. He said the motor has an internal plastic gear that gets stripped.
Ordered new motor from Amazon
Kwikee 379147 Motor Replacement Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005G21JP2..._2H1XBbNFKDR1T
Pic to follow when I do the install

The Meeting!!
This post has nothing to do with any mods but I wanted to share with you that Jerry and I finally met!! We got together at the 2018 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta earlier this month. I know this may sound hoaky but its like I've known Jerry our entire lives and wouldn't you know it, the first thing we started doing after we met was to work on some mods and compare notes! We had a great time at the Balloon Fiesta and encourage everyone in this forum to put that event on your bucket list if you have not been there yet!!

Couple quick mods that I stolen from Dino.
Hooks on bathroom door. Can be used to dry towels, hang coats/hat etc
Hooks on bedroom wall form Maria's PJs. I don't need it cus I sleep naked
Paper towel holder velco to the cabinet
3" abs name coupler. Fits perfect in the cup holders. Allows taller bigger cups without the fear of them falling over. Great for Maria's craft supplies on the kitchen table, scissors, pens, glue etc
Put a paper towel on the bottom to absorb condensation
Still waiting for the door step parts from LCI

Hi Mark,
Got them at Walmart. I hate shopping in that store but they have everything at a great price

We have to be careful if we lower the bunk to insure the visors are folded flat or they could easily do damage to the dash.

Just an FYI, don't know if it's a fact or dealer BS but they said the fans up front are to defrost the windshield not cool the driver. Which made sense since the chassis wasn't designed with that size windshield. I think I'll used the as defrost then cool the driver once the glass is clear.

I know that several people on this thread have used a Water Refill System for their batteries, how have they held up over the years? I'm thinking of getting one for my house batteries but not sure how well they work in the long run.

I have replaced all (3) batteries with the maintenance-free type, two of which are AGMs. I like the fact that they don't have to be periodically checked, because often it was "out of sight, out of mind".
