Chf

Those that have completed the CHF, did you see handling improvements? How difficult was the CHF to do?

Improved handling in wind and 18 wheelers. I also installed the safetplus stabilizer. I drive one handed and am very pleased with the result. The chf, I had my mechanic do the work for $80. I’m not to confident in my abilities for those mechanical things anymore. He also installed the safetplus. Hope this helps. Jerry

Yes, the CHF helped in handling.

It took the wife and I a total of about 90 minutes to do the CHF. Make sure you have the right tools - you will need the right sockets and a torque wrench and blue Loctite if you choose to do it yourself. You will also want to find the most level area you can to do the job (without levelers) to keep the sway bar level as compared to the coach. We used a bottle jack to hold the bar in place for the reassembly. Space underneath can be tight... and the front is a bit easier than the rear (2 bolts vs. 4 in the rear plus easier to reach.)

Big help in the dipping and rolling on curves and wind. Also had my mechanic do it 125.00 for front and rear. Did steering stabizer first still needed a little more help with passing trucks and wind had wheel aligment done which was the best improvement for driving and than the CHF

Rear track bar should fix the wind and truck issues

I only had the opportunity to do the front of my 30.2 ACE. Depending what coach you have it can take some time. Since the leaf springs were in the way to remove the bolts from the end link I had to remove the top bolts (no easy task, little room to work and can't see them) and then loosen the sway bar and use a bottle jack to move the sway bar down to remove the bolts from the bottom end link. Then I could re-attach the top of the end links (again you have to do it by feel) then use the bottle jack to move the sway bar up to the position to attach the bottom of the end links. The front took an hour and a half and I have all the tools with the right size metric sockets and wrenches. My plan is to do the rear this spring, hopefully its a little quicker.

I'm not mechanically inclined so I paid $80 to have front and rear done. It made a huge difference and would highly recommend it.

I had it done on my Challenger, by my mobile mechanic. Front and back. I had him install the Safe T Plus at the same time. Labor was about $160 for both.

I noticed a big difference in the handling and the affect from passing18 wheelers. This was money well spent, IMO, and if I ever buy another RV on this Ford chassis, I’ll have it done again right away.

Does anyone know of a mechanic in the Houston area that I could contact to do the CHF on our Windsport 29M? I am having problems with sway and steering control when semi's pass us. I already have the SafeTPlus installed.
Thanks

Finished the CHF front and rear yesterday. Handles like a champ. Unbelievable improvement on a Freedom Traveler A30.
