Remembering my old Chevy Caprice Classic with positraction... and how easy it was to get both rear wheels spinning on wet roads and go for a ride... picturing that on an RV... oh my...

Since motorhomes are clearly not designed for off-road performance: it's easy to understand why they'd leave "posi" out of the pumpkin!
With that in mind: it's easy to see how much I'd rather have it, and not need it: than be in the opposite situation!

My F-350 had a limited slip rear end and sometimes it would get just a little squirrely
I would imagine that the additional weight of the MH would stress out the LS a little bit--why not just put a locker in with a button .

I could live with a system like that!
Who hasn't seen a Jeep with one of those systems installed?
Eaton makes an outstanding setup!

Since motorhomes rarely see soft terrain, they (Ford) could add brake-based traction control that would avoid the problem you describe. That approach should be simple and relatively inexpensive.

You should be able to find out from the VIN. Or in most Fords there is a metal tag bolted to the differential (pumpkin or cover) which includes data like gear ratio and type of differential.

Old Jeep trick, to make an open diff act like it's more than it is:
set the parking brake
crawl under the rig, and loosen the parking brake cable to the side that has traction
(This'll keep the spinning wheel from doing it's thing; yet the one with traction will be able to turn freely.
Climb back in, and make some magic happen!

Back when I was in college, I had a Nissan pickup. I remember once stopping in a parking lot. Got back in to go and I wasn't going anywhere.... just spinning.
I got out and walked around. Bone dry pavement under three wheels, and a small patch of ice not much bigger then the tire under the 4th.
I hated that truck!
Collected myself, put her in neutral, pushed it back 6 inches or so, jumped back in and on my way no problem.
Some time before that one, I'd had a Chevy Luv 2WD truck (Isuzu made) that was small and light, with wide tires and it had limited slip diff. I could go places in that truck that friends with 4WD couldn't go...with their one front wheel and one rear wheel turning

I have had luck with pushing parking brake down o transfer to wheel not spinning. Has worked with Vegas and many boat ramps with pickup.

Thanks, I hadn't heard that one. Crawling under to d/c the cable might be a bit problematic.
