Opening Rear Window 30FE
Can you open the read window in a 2019 Freedom Elite 30FE? I'm thinking about hooking up a portable a/c and need a way to vent.

Is it the emergency exit, if so no.

Resist the temptation to open the rear emergency exit window. In another post it was reported that when you do so, the entire glass panel falls completely out and is a bear to put back in place in the unlikely event it doesn't shatter into a million pieces when it hits the ground.

Yea, it's the emergency window. Guess I'll have to find another way to vent the a/c

How about a 6" hole in the wall and a stove pipe. But seriously, I thought through the process of doing what you are trying to do and came to the conclusion that the only thing that would work is a second roof top a/c.

Yea, that's the conclusion I'm coming to as well. Replace the bedroom vent with an a/c and run an single 20 amp line to plug into the pedestal when at a campground.

I’d just run the portable AC exhaust out the ceiling vent if I didn’t have a handy window. I use a portable AC if I’m going to be in a very hot place - which isn’t all that often. And it was cheap and effective.

Pete'sMH... guess I could duct the portable out the roof vent. It would only be used during the day.

The OP peaked my curiosity.
So I went out to the RV (30FE) to see how the rear window was installed.
There is NO hinge at the top. It's just an extruded channel sitting on top of a ledge. There are two screws tacking the top of the window frame in place.
If you zoom in on the photo you will see what I am describing.
If the bottom latches are released, and the window is pushed outward, i would expect it to fall off the RV.
The question then becomes, is it possible to install some type of mechanism that would allow the top of the window to be retained if the latches are released and the window is opened partially? The trick would be to allow opening a little bit and in an emergency situation, allow it to come off if opened more.
Looks like a potential MOD to me.

I wonder if it would be easier to just add a big sliding window that still opened enough in case of an emergency. Wouldn’t be cheaper in am sure

rear emergency window
I can attest to the fact that, on our ACE 29.3, the glass panel will fall out if you open it far enough. Ours didn't, in fact, fall as we were expecting it to come out and just testing to make sure that it would come out in an emergency. Took about 10 minutes to get it back in.
I really hate that it cannot be opened for ventilation and am looking for a company that can/will replace it with one that can be used for both ventilation and emergencies. If anyone has any input on replacement, I'd love to hear it.

Hi Virginia if you leave that window open while driving it will fall out as it is an emergency window, barely held in. I do crack mine window for additional ventilation when park. As many have said drill a hole through the wall and do it right you’ll have no problem venting the hose out you can buy a plug for the wall when not using your air conditioner. I had a portable air conditioner in one of my small offices it worked amazingly well I purchased it from Home Depot about 400 bucks

We have the 30 FE and I’m going to install a second a/c using the roof vent over the bed. These units should have come with two a/c to start with. It’s an easy instal

I agree they should have but that won't help for dry camping, unfortunately.

How are you going to get power to the second AC?

I know it takes up valuable floor space, but what about an indoor swamp cooler? We bought one about 4 yrs ago for above garage, master bedroom. It has a detachable tank that can be filled from the sink or shower. And, does a pretty decent job of cooling our bedroom when the temp gets too warm up there. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=portable+...b_sb_ss_i_4_14

Split hinges? Half hinges?
Installed in the right orientation, you might be able to open it a little for venting, a lot for removal.
Just a thought.
