Portable AC tips

Hi there!
My 29.3 ACE has the standard 15k BTU single AC unit. Iím considering adding a portable 8k BTU and putting the exhaust out the bedroom window to make the NC summers at the beach a little more tolerable.
I researched and found out that a 15k BTU AC unit uses 13 amps and an 8k BTU uses around 8 so I should still be fine running both on my 30 amp RV as long as I donít use anything else that has a big power draw at the same time.
Am I missing anything? Just wondering if anyone else has tried this or has any other ideas.

Thanks!
Christina

We're taking one with up this yr.
I've got it setup to go between the front seats in our E450 and vent it out the driver window.
Travel with it secured in the bedroom.

We're paying for 50 Amps in Key West and Gatlinburg, the rest of the time we'll have to be careful with 30. I'm going to drill a hole in the floor to run the power cord to the power pedestal.

Iím planning to buy one of these (if I ever get a month to come in on budget). Itís small enough to fit on the bedroom shelf and vent out the small window nearby. Specs say it draws 7.8A. I just recently added a dedicated 20A outlet in that location for running either the portable air conditioner or a second space heater. The new circuit will plug into a pedestal 15 or 20A outlet or the 50A with an adapter.Click image for larger version

I have what looks like this same unit. They work well enough but you'll probably want to find a way to run a permanent drain out the bottom or your MH. Otherwise you'll run yourself ragged dumping the catch pan.

My 29h outlaw has a second 8k mounted in the garage from the factory. Itís only 30 amp service. Yes I can run both if I watch what I use. If Iím camping for any length of time, I run a extension cord through the window and use the 20 amp plug for it.

We did the same with our Outlaw, and it worked pretty darn well that way.
(But those little 5k BTU a/c units don't use much power anyway... )
