Power Cord Reel for Challenger

Has anybody added a power cord reel to a Challenger? I’d love to add one, but my Challenger LX does not have much space in the storage compartment housing the power cord. If anyone has figured out how to do this, I’d appreciate the feedback. Thanks.

While I think it would be great to have a reel for the heavy duty 50 amp cable in my Challenger 37LX, the cost seems prohibitive for the gain. But here’s a link to one, and if you scroll down to the “compare similar items” section, there are less expensive models as well.

I thought about one for my rig as I have plenty of room for it but when I saw the cost, I decided to just stay with what I have. I love power everything - seats, windows, recliners, etc., but when you're talking this much and it's really not saving that much time or effort, like Mike said, it isn't cost effective to me. Power levelers, awnings, slideouts all make sense because they're tough to deal with manually but pulling a cord a few feet out or even a water hose, doesn't make a lot of sense because you still have to plug and unplug them. Now if you had to run the cord a LONG way, it might make sense but then, I wouldn't want to drag my cord that far because, over time, it will wear through the insulation. But to each his own, just my two cents. Good luck if you decide to do it and let us know how it went!

I added a manual reel from Harbor Freight for about $20 bucks or less. Not powered, but works for me.

I’d be ok with a manually operated reel. Just need something that would fit my Challenger 37LX. What model motor home do you have?

Sanford, if it’s convenient for you, I’d love to see a pic of that, and even better, the item brand/model or whatever you have for the reel you bought.

Sure, here you go. Also, you can go to HarborFreight.com and search for hose reel.Click image for larger version

Low tech, but works. I use a small bungee cord to secure cord to reel.
