Fresh Water Tank Drain

My fresh water tank is under the rear bed. It is a hassle to lift up bed to drain the tank with factory valve. Has anyone done a modification to make draining the tank easier?

I have a 2014 Hurricane 34e. Same scenario. I installed a small access door to side of bed frame. Works great. Thx, Dennis.

Looks great. Where did you get the access door?

Thanks. I think it was Home Depot. I ordered and they sent via mail. I did have to paint as it was white. Tried to find receipt but no luck. I'm sure there are multiple places to order, and I noticed here a couple HD's actually keep in stock, maybe even Amazon. Here's an example but again, I don't remember exact size and RV is 20 miles away. Thx, Dennis.

I have a 2019 Hurricane 34j and have the same issue. However I just installed a 12v electric ball valve under the coach where the hurricane 1” drain pipe exits. I installed a three position switch in the outside kitchen bottom cabinet. Opened thClick image for larger version

You can also add an extension to the drain valve and add a second manual pvc ball valve but you would need to climb under the coach to drain the tank.

2014 Hurricane 34E had tank under bed. I can't get under it easily as we have a sleep number bed w air hoses. I have to unhook and deflate bed to get to it so, the pic shows what I did to just reach in and turn. Hope it helps. Thx, Dennis.

I am a big man and our Hurricane34j has a king bed in the rear bedroom. The distance between the bed and rear wall is only about 15”. Even if I put a door panel on the back side I still could not reach the drain valve without lifting up the bed. So I put an outside electric valve. No more problems.

34E the bathroom door in back right there and plenty of room for me to do. But good idea.
