How do we open both doors at the same time?

We we bought service tech said there was a way to open the main door and screen door all together with just the white handle..
We can't get to work?

More than likely you need to adjust the screen door handle bracket so that when the screen handle is locked in place the latch is not engaged. That’s why that bracket usually has slotted holes, for adjusting.

In other words, this latch is not holding the two doors together.

The latch part that is on the exterior door should hold the screen door while also holding the screen door's latch open. That's how it works on my coach.

It does hold it there but the screen door has a small plastic lip that goes into the door frame

If the screen door latch catches with both doors connected, it will disconnect the screen door from the main door. The trick is to adjust the screen door catch on the door (the part that has a red arrow to it) so that the screen door catch doesn't quite reach. It only needs to push it down a couple 10th's of an inch. However, on your door, it looks like you are out of adjustment. You may have to drill new screw holes at the bottom of the slot to gain enough adjustment.

The screen door catch needs to be adjusted to work properly.

Before you start drilling, you could possibly get it to work properly by moving the catch plate back slightly so that it doesn't latch when the exterior door is shut. This would prevent you from having to redrill the holes into the exterior door.
It could make it slightly harder for the screen door to latch when you are only using the screen, but that would probably be less of a hassle than having to open both doors each time.

The screen door adjustment would be pictured in 16ACE27's photo. You either need to move the mount slightly up or down in order for it to be held by the door to open with the door. I had to drill a new set of holes because my screen door was holding both doors tight causing me to force it open each time I wanted to use the door. Once I relocated it slightly, the issue disappeared and now both doors open at one time and no more forcing it open.

When it's adjusted correctly:
With the main door open and the screen door shut it latches to the plastic catch on the door frame.
With the screen door latched to the main door, both doors open at the same time and the screen door DOES NOT latch to the door frame when the pair is closed.

I have to re adjust mine after every third trip, had to replace it once as its not meant to be used by kids in a hurry to get out the door, I think a magnet set up might be in my future, I have also had to replace the plastic clear slider once and it was only available from the manufacture, all just routine maintenance

Amazon will be your friend for the next time it gets broke. They have various sizes and colors for as low as ten bucks.
