Solar on 2009 Hurricane

Just completed the install of a Renogy 200 Watt solar system on my Hurricane. Everything is documented here: Wandering View: Solar on the Hurricane, Part One

but here are some of the high points:
-The kit was mostly complete. Due to the run length of the wires for my hurricane, I ordered a pair of 15' extension cables.
-The "remote" control is on a 6-foot leash. It uses a special wiring cable. Looks like Ethernet but is a different spec, and they say using Ethernet cable will break it. Until I can find a better cable, the remote is pretty useless to me.
-They advertise the kit for RVs. When you get it, you receive self-tapping screws for the mounting z-brackets. But the documentation says not to use them on RV roofs. They give a link to order "wellnuts" instead. I did, hence the delay on install. But having fought through the extra effort of installing them, I feel much more confident about the strength and stability on my roof.

Full install write up here: Wandering View: Solar on the Hurricane, Part One

Thanks for sharing the details of your installation. I like the wellnuts through the roof. An RV solar shop recommended just gluing the zee brackets down. I don't have the guts that.

We used the self-tapping screws with plenty of Dicor sealant around them for our install. We have had no issues at all with them mounted this way.

Were you able to hit any rafters? We couldn't find them.

We used the roof diagrams provided from Thor as much as possible. Of course, lots of Dicor helped as well.
