I bought a new 2017 Axis 25.4 from the local dealer, as part of the deal I wanted a spare tire an wheel, it took them almost three week to get the wheel, I ordered a spare tire winch for a 2017 Ford E- 450 van from Amazon, it’s the same OEM winch that Ford uses, I welded up a couple of lengths of 2 inch channel an mounted it across the top of the back of the frame, it sits up there just like a Ford Pickup, more than plenty of room an no worry of ground clearance,

Nice! That option sort of alleviates my concerns about a cross-country (or even to Alaska and back) trip in a couple of years. How's the "fit" though? Any mods necessary to accommodate clearance to rear ladder?

We have AAA RV service to do the labor. All I carry is the spare for them to change. At 75, my days of changing tires, especially on something as heavy as our Axis are over.

So, is the tire just laying on top of the steel channels, or is it secured somehow?

Also, was kind of channels did you use?

Tire was placed into location with 0 air in it
That way I could force it into place, above the hitch and cross brace between the I-beams of the E450 frame.

Then I placed the two pieces of aluminum “strut” material (ez to cut and work with) above the E450 beams and aligned at the current holes (no drilling needed).
Finally, after strut material is secured & tire is properly located, I inflated the tire to about 20 pounds. That was enough to secure it tightly into place, does not move.

To remove (we all hope it never happens)...
I’ll deflate the tire completely, remove the 4 nut & bolts that hold the strut material, remove strut material, then drop the tire after moving it into place.

Mo Mike, the tire and wheel are pulled up by the winch and its positioned between the two frame rails, the 25.4 Axis has plenty of room in this area, its positioned between the back of the fuel tank and the trailer hitch, it lays horizontal and is held in place by the cable from the winch, if you have looked under a newer pickup you can get an idea of how it works, for some of you who do not want to deal with changing a tire on the road having a spare tire and wheel can make a big difference in how much time you spend on the side of the road, as one of the others who posted the wheel on the Thor coaches are different than that of a E-450 van, if your wheel gets damaged you could be stuck for a long time waiting for some one to find you a wheel, I used 2 inch steel channel and one of the other guys who did a post has built the same kind of mount as mine, he has posted a picture, I have not had any luck posting pictures on this site

Which USB???

My bedroom USB is finicky.
I might need to replace with something else
(I’m still in warranty, but too much trouble)

SO, what is the size of the rim for the VEGAS/AXIS is it a 19.5 x 6.75 and is it a 10 lug wheel or is it a 16 X 6 with 8 lugs?

I just want to make sure I am looking at VEGAS/AXIS E450 and not the F53

Yep, I have the Curt also. It does not come with bolts, not a big deal. I welded the bolts in place.

Spare tire carrier

No matter how much I fiddled, I could not get a fully inflated spare tire between the frame rails and hitch frame in my 2017 Vegas 24.1. Using the hitch mounted spare tire carrier was not an option because it would take the hitch. Unsuccessful in finding a spare carrier that still allowed towing, so I built this on a 7" hitch extender:

Does anybody make these? If not, there is an opportunity here.

I might do that, just for the trip. I can afford a wheel and tire, but I can't buy the fun of the trip and the meet-up.
We're near the grand canyon south rim, so three-ish hours from Henderson, What part of Nevada are you in?

Spare tire carrier on Vegas 25.2

I added the RoadMaster, a bit on the expensive side but worth it, swings down out of the way of the rear slide, and you still have receiver access.

Put a spare rim and tire on my ACE 30.2. Used the Roadmaster carrier to mount it. Can even mount the bike rack or a toad to the Roadmaster thru-receiver.
