Stupidest water filter placement ever.

Just picked up a low mileage 2017 Citation 24SR, after three short trips I'm so glad to report zero issues. However, a main flaw is the water filter is located under the bed along with the water pump and all the electrical. In such a place its nearly impossible to change the filter. The lines are to short to dismount the bracket and raise it out of there. No matter what you do your faced with possibly spilling water into the electrical panel. Fire this guy who designed it that way or installed it there

The only way out is to fully blow out the lines and repipe this over to the right side which is pretty much wide open

Makes no sense. Any one faced with this or was this a one off mistake?

They had to put the filter in a spot where they could get all of the water before it started splitting off to the various outlets...

We had a 31L with the a badly placed filter. I ended up taking it out and using it as an external filter. Bought a stand at CW for about $15 that worked great.

checking in with a 31E with same config as 31L. i use 2 of those blue water filters inline before it enters the coach. this includes filling the 40 gal. tank.

In my Quantum PD31, the filter was also under the bed. I removed it completely and traveled for two years with no filter at all. This year I got tired of carrying 50lbs of bottled water all the time so I installed a Culligan drinking water faucet on the kitchen counter. I installed the RC-EZ-4 filter unit under the counter where I can easily access it by removing two drawers. This is a sealed cartridge so changing it poses minimal spillage risk.

I use a hydro-Life screw-on filter at the park's water outlet...
I have yet to put a filter on the inside of my coach; even though all of the hardware in already in place.

Same here Bob, C-85, although we do not drink or consume the water from the tank...we always carry bottled spring water. All water that goes into the house tank has been filtered by the C-85 first.

We don't even drink the water at our home!! If you've ever toured a sewage treatment plant, you wouldn't either!! Can't help but think of the fine line between those employees and an RV builder.

definitely have a filter on the in coming supply line and I never would drink the water unless its filtered at the faucet. I use a Berkey filter at home for drinking water. The placement is ridiculous and it needs to go!

Do you brush your teeth with Bacardi's 151?
It helps to make the Day seem... Merrier!

Yaktop,

The water filter in our 2016 Thor Synergy was located under the driver's side twin bed and I made the dealer remove it and byass the connection. Now we just use an in-line filter at the camground water connection.

60 years of drinking it straight from the hose. If the water isn't hot with the taste of a garden hose my thirst is not quenched.

Yeah, no self respecting germ could survive the 'cleaning'? Come to think of it, most mouthwash is a fair amount of alcohol. Course so is the 'cough' syrup. You're supposed to spit it out too, .... when I was uhh adventerous uhh... Now it flavors my morning coffee.

What doesn't kill us only makes us stronger!
As kids: we all probably drank gallons of water out of the creek that runs behind our house... almost nobody ever died!

(Back to the in-coach filtration systems...)
I guess that we never put ours into play because of the fact that once you are winterizing the rig: that filter has to be removed anyway...
One more step that I'm just too lazy to think about.

True, Bob...that was the days when Maple Syrup was made with Maple Syrup. We were camping this weekend at Lake Hartwell Camping and Cabins on the annual family vacation. Lake Hartwell is a huge, gorgeous lake running along the coast of SC and GA. The signs at every marina/boat dock..."DO NOT EAT THE FISH FROM THIS LAKE".
