Sumo springs

On the advice of another reader I added a heavy duty roll bar and SumoSprings to the rear of our 2018 24’ Four Winds.
The coach rolls a lot when going very slow over one wheel at a time bumps, such as entering or driveway. The Sumo springs helped some but not much, I did use the heavier weight ones as well.
Anyone else have this issue ?
Thank you....

I just added Hellwig helper springs to my Freedom Elite 26HE. My motor-home was leaning about 2” on the driver side and seemed to sit a little low in the back. I also had a front end alignment (Front Caster Camber Bushing added) , and tire rotation. I will be traveling from Denver to Phoenix next week and will provide an update when I get back. The suspension tech did not recommend air bags or other modifications. I think the Hellwig helper springs are standard on Jayco motor-homes as part of the JRide package.

No matter what you do: these beasts will never handle like a Corvette...
The best you can hope for; is to reduce the amount of sway to an almost acceptable...

... and then adjust your driving style.

What I think you are describing here is not the same as what others normally mean by “handling”. Going very slowly over uneven terrain or pavement like a swale or driveway at an angle is very different than body roll caused by going around curves at higher speeds, or crosswinds, or passing trucks, etc.

In my opinion you should look closely at replies to see if the conditions others describe are applicable.

Think about this: If you drive your motorhome so that only one side of the rear axle was on a 4-inch-high leveling block, would the motorhome body roll sidewards more or less with stiffer springs and stiffer sway bar?

On Vegas/Axis E350/450 frame, the Helwig Anti-Sway Bars really do the trick to eliminate side to side rocking.

My rig is a bit over-kill as I have DIY installed:
~ front and rear Helwig anti-sways
~ front and rear SUMO’s
~ front Air Lift 1000’s (inside each coil)

The air bags now raise the front end about an inch.
And the SUMOs are no longer resting on the front cross-members...only coming into play as additional support when the rig rocks side to side.

All of that said...the ride is now second to none.

I have driven motor homes for over 20 years and bread vans for 20 years before that. They will always rock when going in and out of driveways or over bumps at slow speed. It is the nature of the setup. The after market add-ons will improve handling at speed which is were you need it most.

I added Sumo Springs to the front and rear of my Outlaw 29H and it helped a lot.

I have a new set of front Sumo Springs for sale if you want to see if they help more than just adding the rear ones.

What do you mean they don't handle like a Corvette? The F53 has 10 cylinders right? Nobody said anything to me saying it would not handle like Covette? Have I been hookwinked Add Sumo Springs and 5 Star tuning and I am ready for Indy. I could possibly win it because I would not have to stop to get the required 500 miles.
