Tinted all windows
We just had all the windows tinted to the max legal in our 2017 Thor Freedom Elite 30FE. Our installer is a friend of ours and completed the entire job in about 4-5 hours. We were SHOCKED how much cooler the coach was even without the A/C running, it was not even real.
Just spoke with him to ask why the tint already in the RV didn't do so well. As it turns out, it's not tinted at all . They are colored glass, so they might as well have been clear glass.
I wish I would have thought to check the temperature before and after, but I estimate that it's 10 - 15 degrees cooler.
Well worth the money, again, it's just glass in these units.

The driver side windows and passenger side door window are not tinted and would like to tint those. However they are dual pane windows and I have read that tinting those causes the reflected heat to get trapped between the glass and leading to premature failure. I am still looking for a solution though.

35% (medium) and lighter would be safe for dual pane glass
Do you know what brand and type he installed ?

Window Tinting
I have no idea about FL, but aftermarket window tinting of driver's and passenger side windows is still illegal in CA....

He installs SunTek brand, the driver's compartment is max legal in Florida. The rest of the RV my request was "whatever is needed to block out the heat".

I can understand regulations for cockpit area, but even in California what difference would it make in the rest of the coach. I've had my windows tinted in every vehicle (rv, truck, cars) for last 25-30 years & what a difference it makes in heat & glare. In my opinion, as far as glare, it's safer with the tint.

I was looking for someone to do the side front windows before we got on the road but didn't get it done. I think just doing those windows on both sides would keep the coach cooler. I'm not too concerned about my vision be impaired for night driving because we rarely if ever drive it at night.

Joe they have new tint out either carbon or ceramic. They block out more uv and heat without being really dark. I have it on my coach.

The laws aren't written specifically for RV's - but for all vehicles.. (we get lumped in with SUVs and the like).
As I understood the reasoning in NY at least - it was really a concern for LEO... On a traffic stop - not being able to see into the car increases the risk to them...
Might be other/different reasons there and elsewhere.

My SUV has high levels of tints on all windows (factory installed) except driver and passenger and they ahve a lower level of tint. I see it all the time on dirver's and passenger windows in California legal or not. I think (IMHO) its enforced after an accident (to help insurance company fix blame) and probable at the discretion of the officers.
Googled it - Non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches of the windshield. Front Side Windows. Must allow more than 70% of light in.

3M and a couple of other companies make a ceramic film, sometimes referred to as crystal tint, that blocks heat and or light. The film comes in clear and can be used on entire windshield since it doesn't block light. Good stuff, I have it on both side windows of my Yukon and can't feel any heat even in Texas sun!

I've gotta say this activates my BS detector. No doubt it's just an honest mistake in a game of semantics...with no malice intended....but what is "tinted glass" if not colored?....and what is colored glass, if not tinted?
In my thinking tinting is just a coloration
some tinting may also be accompanied by a reflective surface, making it more or less "mirrored"
either or both of these are basically just differing levels of allowed light transmittance...visible light and IR light
Some very dark tinted glass won't let through much visible light but will let through a lot of the IR....maybe that's what he means by "colored"???
