Challenger doghouse

for you guys that soundproofed your doghouse, how the heck did you get the doghouse off ? i've taken out the four screws and can't find anymore, but i sure hate to pry on that plastic for fear of breaking it.

it's a 2017 challenger.

Mine was stuck pretty good. I used a wide flat bar and pried on a front corner. Mine is made of fiberglass not plastic? Once you have it pried up some pull it towards you to free it up in the back. Hope this helps.

I had to pry mine. Started at the top of the driver side and worked my way around. Just a little movement each time. It finally came off. Take your time and don’t heavy hand it.

We took a short trip last weekend, the first time since I added the sound barrier. Big difference. You will be glad you did it.

ok, got it off, now another question ?

once i got it up and out of the way, there was a length of round rubber seal dangling from the rear down into the engine area. i see where there's one up at the firewall but don't see where this one goes.
and it's no wonder this this was loud, the factory did a horrible job of putting the heat foil in, and yes, it was JUST the foil, no foam, no insulation.
it never surprises me the pride people take in their jobs...
anyway, any idea where that seal might go ? it had the tape adhesive at one time.

looking at the inside of the doghouse shows little to no effort or expense from the manufacturer..
it had a layer of aluminum which was falling off, no insulation at all.
wonder if my DynaMat will stick to the surface because it apears they tried to use spray glue to hold the aluminum on..

If possible send pics. It helps if we can see what you see. I use 3M spray glue and that stuff works great!! My guess on the rubber that was hanging down is part of the trim that should go around the dog house. Just a guess. If you need an interactive conversation you can call me. Just let me know.

Got it all done with the help of my son.
Jannnda, the seal is intact around the doghouse and firewall. There was only a foil installed and the DynMat stuck real good to it. Now I just need the get that 4th screw that holds the doghouse gown tightened.
Seems it may be a moving hole.
But I shall prevail !

Yup, but after my back surgery.
Gonna cut a hole in the air conditioning housing and adding a louver.

I use an app called Tapatalk. It has an icon that looks like two mountains (to me it does). Makes it easy to pull a pic from your phone.

Mine was about the same. Take out the 4 screws and pry a little in a couple of places to loosen it enough to pull it up and out the way. Found the rubber seal loose and the fibreglass hanging down. Glued them both back in place with Superglue. Did notice one other thing laying on top of the motor I have never seen before. Aluminum foil in some places just laying there, so I removed it since it was not tied down to anything. Finding the screw holes to screw the doghouse back down took some more time too. It doesn't line up that well.

Before I took my dog house off I used a pencil and outlined it on the floor. It still took me a little while to find the holes.

Thought I knew about removing the doghouse in RVs. Another maker of RVs that i owned had thier doghouse tied down with clamps. It was easier to remove but that RV broke down a lot more. And the motor was surrounded by metal plates making it impossible to work on.

I was glad to see your thread about the doghouse. First, I learned what a doghouse is, and that it can be insulated for noise! What product did you use to insulate?

I used Dynamat but there are other more cost effective solutions. Kilmat (KLM8036) works well. On top of that I put a heat barrier. Can’t remember what I used....I think it was for the hood of a car. Found all on Amazon.
