We use a good scraper and a griddle pad that looks like a fine wire mesh. Some griddles are cast iron and some griddles are mild steel. They are two different animals and season at different rates.

For those interested, heres the youtube video I am following for the conversion to use the Blackstone with the mh quick connect. The only thing I am doing different is instead of a quick connect fitting at the Blackstone end Im using a 3/8 flared male threaded fitting. I already had a 12' hose which has the 3/8 female flared connection.

Heres the regulator mod for the blackstone. Its all ready for the mh quick disconnect.

I ordered a new regulator from blackstone. $10 with shipping included. Not a bad price.

Its a little difficult but you have to remove the regulator from the pipe assembly. Back off the holding nut then unscrew the regulator. I had to put it in my vise then wrench the fittings off.

The threads on the pipe are 5/16 with 24 thread.

I bought a female 5/16-24 to male 1/8" coupler

Trico FA-1007 Brass Central Lubrication Straight Adapter, 5/16"-24 Female x 1/8" NPT Male https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AQOMN6E..._tcUSAbWM9BY87

Also from amazon a female 1/8 to 3/8 flared male coupler

Anderson Metals Brass Tube Fitting, Coupling, 3/8" Flare x 1/8" Female Pipe https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006PKK3XI?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Yellow pipe tape and screw everything together.

I already had a 12 ft hose with the 3/8 female flared end

So about $25 to retrofit this to the mod

The reason for buying the new regulator is that I wanted to keep the original one intact so I could bring the Blackstone in the back yard and use it off a 20 gallon tank

Jerry,

Spoken like a SoCal resident. In-n-Out is About the only thing I miss from SoCal since we escaped 7 years ago (as of April 7). We now have to go to Salt Lake City to get a fix or the few times I’m in LA on business. They
In-N-Out announced they are building a distribution center in Colorado Springs and up to 50 sites along the Front Range - eventually. So we only have to wait another 5 years. We do have 3 Trader Joe’s now and they are full of other escapees.

We do get along with Smashburger.

Who uses a blackstone and do you also use a bbq of some kind or just the BS.

i will experiment later this week by cooking a couple steaks on it. Hopefully they are good so i can take the weber out of the mh.

We got a 17” at the company hq in Logan, ut last summer. No grill anymore. Had some trouble keeping it hot if I recall. Probably me. Seasoned great. Like idea of bringing it to the back deck.

I bought a 17" Blackstone a couple years ago and it is great whether I use it at home or on the road. Fact be known I've just about quit using the house stove to cook any meats, etc. Lots of times I'll put a pot on the grill too.

I got mine set up on the upper deck of my home with a 30 pound propane tank but for camping I use a 5 pound tank. Latter negates having to buy/stow/refill numerous one pound bottles and with a "gas gauge" I have more peace of mind about how much is left in the tank. I have a one pounder for a lantern and it doubles as a grill backup JIC.

Like most all good cooks I use a couple of squeeze bottles for the various oils we cook with. I have a 10" lid I use to "speed up" cooking times and melt cheese on burgers.

We have the Blackstone Tailgater, 1/2 griddle, half gas grill. The gas grill detaches in about 30 seconds to expose the burner for a cooking pot or frying pan. It has adjustable folding legs, can also be set up on a picnic table or tailgate. Best of both worlds, works great for us.

Many thanks to those that posted here. After reading many reviews, I purchased the 17" Griddle for the RV that will compliment my Webber Baby Q. Griddle, Carry bag and tool kit $122 on Amazon. With temps rising I hope to cook outdoors. Should be in this afternoon and I will start the seasoning process. God bless and safe travels to all!

Camping now and I’m gonna order the parts like Jerry did because I avg one cook session per 1lb bottle and would prefer not not to lug around a 20lb tank
Love my Blackstone !

Has anyone tried the BS tailgater combo unit with the grill/griddle combo? Really like the ability to grill and griddle as necessary with the same unit. Only trepidation I have is the 15k btu burner on the griddle. Seems like it may be a bit undersized vs the 22” BS stand-alone griddle.

Anyone have experience on the tailgater?

Jerry,

I see that you may have not used it yet, but I was wondering if your quick-connect worked out (we have the same connection near the outdoor kitchen). I had also read on Amazon reviews that there were some people who experienced low flow/flame...evidently because of the two regulators - the BS one and the one on the MH.

Any thoughts or different experiences?

Kent
