That’ll be a nice trip. Hope you enjoy it and safe travels.
Just came in a week ago from traveling thru Arizona via I-40. Some advice: stay off that interstate as much as possible unless you want to have your bones and teeth rattled.

Would like to recommend Homolovi State Park near Winslow. It was one of our favorite campgrounds that we visited. Stunningly beautiful sunrises and sunsets out in the middle of the desert. The town of Winslow is a fun place to visit also where you can be “Standing on the corner...”. The gentleman who owns the souvenir shop there where the pictures are taken is a great conversationalist also.

Will be leaving for AZ and CA the middle of the month. Love the Southwest. I can see why you would want to leave FL and go to AZ. There is a saying and I think it is so true, "If you want to see what man made go to Florida, if you want to see what God made, go to the Southwest." Safe Travels.

We have spent several Thanksgivings dry camping at the BLM campground at Senator's Wash north of Yuma. Very quiet spot at the end of the Colorado River next to the Yuma Army Proving Grounds. You can also get gas on the civilian access side of the base. You might want to give it a try. No reservations needed!

When in Yuma, we always stay at the Cocopah Casino on 95 going to Somerton. Love the food at this Casino. Best Club Sandwich I have ever had. Their Seafood and Prime Rib Buffet on Friday nights also excellent. Nice RV parking lot area with no services, but no reservations required also. Just pay in at the gift shop.

We go to the Apache Junction area as our daughter lives in Tempe.
As a general rule we avoid the interstates but am aware of that section of I-40 around Winslow. Homolovi is a nice State Park. One time there they had a fire ban in place. Some foreign tourists had a roaring one going with gust to about 30 miles and hour.
Senator Wash is to busy for our tastes but we have stayed at Crystal Hills.
Our first Christmas with our daughter we spent at Organ Pipe; not busy at all.

I couldn't agree more! So much so that we bought a park model in Picacho Peak Rv Resort between Tucson & Phoenix. We've fulltimed for almost 10 years, a couple winters in Florida (too damp, moldy & not good on arthritis), a couple in the Rio Grande valley in Texas (too windy, salty air rusts everything), 1-2 winters doing contract work in places we don't need to repeat, & finally Arizona. The scenery & sunsets are spectacular, it's dry & can be dusty but not often, most of the parks are cheaper than Florida, it's not for everyone but we really like it here.

My old man used to say, "the secret to a successful vacation is to take half as many clothes and twice as much money!"
Hope you enjoy the great SW!

The dentist got all the money this year so guess we'll have to take more clothes.

The trip from FL to AZ went like a breeze. Started back for FL on the 3rd of Jan. Stopped by Riverview, BLM CG, near Safford AZ again for a few days. Cheapest propane was at a farm tractor place, John Deere etc in Thatcher, Safford.
Moved on to Datil Well, 7500 feet, to beat the weather. Got all set up before the snow started. Coldest nights so far were 12 and 14 degrees. Everything preformed well, even the ginney started. That said the blue ox patriot died. Internal battery I think.
Moved of to Valley of the Fires with 17 degree mornings and high winds. The New Garmin Nuvi 2589 LMT purchased for this trip died.
If you make it to Valley of the Fires take the time to stop by Bosque Del Apache US Fish and Wildlife refuge. That's at Socorro NM near I-25. Good green chille burgers at either the Buckhorn or Owl bar and grills.
Looks like we will have to ride out the weather at Bottomless Lakes SP near Roswell NM.
