Family Motor Coach Association

On our first trip last month, and here on the forum, I have noticed quite a few folks are members of FMCA. Quite a few are also members of Good Sam Club. What are the benefits/advantages of FMCA membership? Their website shows benefits similar to GSC.

FMCA has some good benefits, such as the FMCA Assist program which will get you and/or your RV home in the event an emergency comes up when on the road as part of the membership fee. GoodSam does not have any such thing included in the membership fee. FMCA also has some decent discounts on tires, pharmacy plans, electronics, etc. GoodSam offers discounts on many things as well, but their plans are priced higher than FMCA equivalents (roadside assistance, extended warranty, etc.) and it is a crap shoot to determine if you get any value from them.

That's it in a nutshell.

Good sams is a waste of money in my opinion but I have a bad taste in my mouth from dealing with camping world. They dont appreciate your loyalty all they care about is your money. I just rejoined FMCA because of the assist program. I originally joined it back in 2002 and a few years later moved to a 5th wheel and they dont want those people in their club lol. Now that I am back in a motorhome I rejoined. It is worth the investment if you travel much.

FMCA is a GREAT organization to join!!! I’ve been a member since the late 70’s, stepfather and I joined at the same time, we both got the same number except my ends with an S which denotes son. The monthly magazine is great with many great articles on subjects pertaining to RVs. Can’t say enough good things about FMCA!!!

Actually, the membership of FMCA recently voted to allow all owners of campers (pull behinds and fifth wheels included) to join, not just motorhomes.

I figured they must have but in 2004 when we switched to 5th wheel they didnt. I am sure they have a lot more members now.

I don't know about that, it seems like they did it because their numbers were declining. It was definitely very controversial.

I belong to both: there's a lot of duplication of benefits, but I figure that it never hurts to have as many folks on your side as possible.

I belong to both as well... and agree that there is a duplication of some benefits but they aren't all in the same places.

I think this year FMCA voted to allow trailer owners to join.
