Brother from another mother.

Someone really got shortchanged.

Six of these on the back porch tonight.
The biggest one has taken to sleeping just off the porch.

Let me guess. They're out of season.

Talking Easiest way to store tie down/ratchet straps.

It's a breathable storage container
It's a rag
It's a cushion for corners.
It's cheap
It's readily available
It's a surrender flag if the straps are whoopin' ya.

For a radio change from axxera, I like this unit:

Eonon android 9.0 10.1" rotatable, slide able, tilt able screen.
Amazon.

Full on Android, it does all the apps I've ever used except iExit. The picture is it showing a radar weather map that follows your location called radarnow. It does Google maps, waze, Sygic, topomaps, any map you want that's available for Android.
And
It did away with that awful lag I had in the side cameras. They're immediate now. It added an odd feature I hadn't had before: If I touch the brake it goes back to the rear camera if on side cam, release the brake and it goes back to side cam. So, a tap of the brakes gives me one last rear view before I change lanes.

Mine was $149 in a beat up box, I think they're under $250.
Click the pic, then click the pop-up to get a full screen higher Def picture.

Alexa, play top music of 1946.

Only the speaker was sacrificed. I cut the back off of the speaker and used its frame as a capture for the echo.

Nice $15 echo/Alexa housing.

They're hdpe and weight three pounds or less each.
I'm going to try to get them rhinoliner'd before final install. No real reason other than I can.

Oddly, the shock tower cutouts line up and I doubt I'll trim an ounce off of either side for a perfect fit.

I'll do a seperate thread on the install and insulation.

Have been looking for an easy fix for the loose stones flying off the tires and "BANGING" rather loudly into the underside of the Vegas, let alone the possibility of tearing up something critical!! Thank you Ducksface for planting that seed for the modification idea.

Purchased the Ram parts off Amazon $33 and $38 for the pair. Installed both earlier this week with self tapping screws and fender washers. Drivers side required some cutting around springs, right side fit like a glove. Added some Heat Tech strips to topside before install, then sprayed underside with 3M rubberized undercoat for sound deadening. Will test drive this weekend for a shakedown on this and another mod we did.

Thanks for saying Thanks. I often believe I'm typing for no reason other than to hear my head rattle because there are so few responses. I was about to give up posting mods. I've tried everything from wheelwell to radio guts... And you've finally made me feel like it's paying off.
It's not like me to post of my stuff. The last forum I belonged to for 5 years, I have one of the most prestigious of their equipment which is highly coveted, the coolest of things to compliment it, and I never posted of them...they have no idea I even have a biscuit, let alone a bakery(it's not a food or factory related forum). I seldom even used the words me or mine.

So...my posting of stuff on this forum isn't for me in the least. I'm still finding it very uncomfortable.
The thanks are to you.

You're ahead of me on the project!
Everytime I go to put them in permanently, I find some other mod that will go behind or above them. I had them in for a short time and they're back out again while I move the chassis and coach batteries around inside the factory gargantuan space where fenderwells go.
The good news is, as you've found, they fit well and remove easily.

I'm glad someone took this easy and inexpensive and finishing project to heart.

Hint: the rears are just as easy.

Yo Duck, keep on posting. Nice mods and detailed explanations. We are all kinda busy, especially this time of year, which could be the case for few responses, but believe me, your post are valuable and well written.

Did you ever consider opening a Axis/Vegas mod shop? If you do, I could stop by and have you do a few on mine.
Keep on mod'n

In awe

Duckface dont quit posting. I think we are all in awe of the mods you’ve already done . We have made a few of our own and we will be doing some you’ve done. I look forward to the new forums coming out twice a week just so i can see what you’ve done. I then of course take a pic of the tread and say “honey i think we need to do this” Thankfully we are gifted with common sense and a little know how that we can handle just about anything that has come up. So thanks for all the post and the wonderful ideas, keep up the good work.

I truly enjoy reading about the mods you and everyone else have written, as they provide valuable solutions to common problems that we all have in our RV's.

To all who read this post "PLEASE" continue to post them in this forum!

I installed an Alexa echo auto tonight.https://www.amazon.com/Echo-Auto-Add...4651982&sr=8-1
I couldn't get the Alexa app installed on my android radio(post#186 in this thread) so I had to Bluetooth the echo auto to the radio through my phone. (which is the normal way to do it, I just wanted to circumvent my phone by using my radio head as the parent. I'm out of burner phones, I'll get one and leave it in the rv.)
I'll later reroute the sound away from the head unit, through a seperate speaker (echo auto has an audio out jack) so I can ask it something and get a response if we're listening to a book or on a phone call.

It has some shortcomings. You have to call it Alexa, you can't change its wake word.
It won't work unless my phone is in the rv(until I get a burner or get the head to run the Alexa app.)
But
it hears very well, is very small and so far hasn't misheard or failed.

If you can get Alexa installed on your android radio and have a Hotspot built into your rv, I'd suggest a regular echo Puck https://www.amazon.com/Echo-Input-Br...IKX0DER&sr=8-3

I can now open and close my garage door, turn on house lights, turn off water at the house and such through echo.

I always have been able to do this with Google assistant, but that Google assistant doesn't hear well and has a sometimes 10 second or so lag causing me to holler at it three times.
AND
Saying 'OK google' turns on everyone's phone, downloading maps or whatever command on 2 to 10 phones in the room, my phone, android head unit and spousal units phone all hear it and react.

Punchline:
Get a Regular echo Puck if you can, otherwise echo auto will open garage, turn on lights, tell you weather, give you traffic reports....

I just hooked echo up to my electric blanket in the rv.
'Alexa, turn on my blanket.' preheated bed and I can turn it off remotely if I forgot it when leaving.
I can't think of anything else in the rv to hook to echo.

Old phone, new mod

I have kept all of my old cell phones that were android.
I've been using smart phones since the treo300 days.

I used them as remote cameras with an app named ALFRED.
Pretty cool, it makes them wireless motion cameras that detect when you're outside of a circle you set and remind you to turn on the cameras. The cameras will email or text you if they detect motion. To a burglar it's just an old phone sitting around, not a camera.

I gave that system up, mostly, because yi brand cameras are dirt cheap and reliable.

So,
While tearing down one of the Alfred cameras/phones I found that my old 2011ish Samsung Evo has a micro hdmi output port.
Cable was $6 to adapt it to one of my overhead monitors prior post here showing my two 10" overhead monitors).
Now I'll have an overhead monitor with a remote touch screen that will live near my steeri g wheel or that can be passed to the passenger to adjust weatherman or Google maps or iexit or lots of stuff.

I vaguely remember some restriction with the phone, apps will hdmi and not movies... Or vice versa. We'll find out tomorrow.

Punchline:
Three parts to this mod.
Use Alfred and put your old phones to work as tattle tale cameras over wifi at the house or in the rv.
Check for hdmi port so it can be used as a tethered remote for a hard to reach screen.
Use the old phone and Alfred to watch your pet in its crate.

Lightbulb Axis/Vegas. Where to easily place FOUR additional six volt golf cart batteries.

They fit with room to spare with two in each front fender well up against the bongo bins.
The first two pics are drivers side, the last two are passenger side.

I've spent the better part of the last two days doing the miserable task of swapping out my main internet router. I bought a netgear nighthawk ax12. It doesn't reach any farther than my ancient 10 year old netgear router, but it's faster and a bit future proof.

Every single piece of 38 Alexa devices, tv's roku plugs switches phones extenders laptops desktops printers had to be started from scratch. About 45 things, 38 are echo controlled.
The first four echo pucks all started easily, but each one was a bit different. Intuitive, but different. The yi cameras were the easiest. They read a bar code on your phone and just set themselves up.
Only a dozen plugs to go, about six different brands and apps. The extender ran out of spaces and kinked me a bit but an additional extender will take the rest of the load.

I HATE THIS STUFF. One of the extenders took 15 tries to get it to wps connect.

Well,
My old phone as a remote touch screen idea crapped out.
My overhead monitors do not have an hdmi slot. Whoda thunk it? Of course I didn't look first. It's new monitors and 12 year old hdmi technology....
I now have a touch screen and cable to nowhere.

It might now go onto the bedroom TV. We'll download movies (mystery science theater 3000) to a job specific phone instead of our daily phones. Hopefully we'll also be able to put maps up on the TV to plan trips for the next day.

Or
A $14 dongle adapter, hdmi to USB.

I'll test the phone on the shop monitors hdmi to see what restrictions are built in. So far I'm only a $10 cable and an old phone worth of deep into this project.

So,
I have the electric valve attachments for the gray and black tanks. They seem like about 10 minutes each to attach them to the exisitng valves.
They're part of my
Macerator
Black tank powered hose reel
Electric tank valves
Sprinkler valve actuated tornado's
Project

I've seen Prevost based coaches, lots of them, without these electric valves. I bought the tank valves for fifty bucks each and the sprinkler selonoid was ten bucks.
Why aren't they high end standards or options in more cases?

Does anyone here have electric tank valves?
