Limited offer for Vegas and Axis owners

Calling all Vegas and Axis owners!

A few forum members from Central Florida have made reservations at Lake Griffin State Park, in Leesburg, Florida on October 7 for two nights. Leesburg is about an hour north of Orlando, and south of The Villages.

There will be no entertainment or organization. This is not an official rally, or anything other than a group of folks with similar rigs getting together to share experiences and travel stories. It's a small RV park, so all the sites are fairly close.

Sorry for the necessity to exclude other Thor models for this gathering. Perhaps someone will take the initiative to plan a more inclusive gathering.

If you have a Vegas or an Axis and want to join us, make your reservation at Campgrounds and Camping Reservations - ReserveAmerica (There is a discount for seniors.) When I last checked, there were just 9 sites available to reserve for the 2 nights. If you make reservations, PM me and I'll add you to the list.

Hey, Jamie, would love to have you. Maybe you could talk Thor into planning a summer rally in Indiana and a winter one in Florida!

There was a restaurant in Leesburg called the Chopping Block that made the best hamburgers I've ever had. If I had an Axis I'd go back just for a Hoofy burger, but unfortunately I heard it closed a long time ago.

Wish we could attend .. but, already made that 2000 mile trek this summer !
I do think a centrally located rally would be neat...perhaps in Tennessee, Indiana, or Missouri !

Tenenssee... great choice!

Tennessee, somewhere close to the Smoky Mountains, like around Cherokee or Douglas Lakes!! I'd be there!

Only 2746 miles for me. I think I may pass. Now, next year, after I retire, is a different story.

Sites are still available at Lake Griffin State Park in Leesburg for Oct 7 and 8. We have a few nearby restaurants to suggest. (Sorry Chance, The Chopping Block is ancient history.)

Looks like Hurricane Matthew has ruined this event:

!Park Closure Due to Hurricane Matthew - Lake Griffin
Lake Griffin State Park is CLOSED until further notice due to imminent weather conditions including strong winds and rain caused by Hurricane Matthew.

This gathering is washed out, blown out. The state park has closed until Sunday, and with all trees there, there may be a lot of debris to pick up before they reopen. The entire area is hunkered down

The most serious impact of this storm will be on the Atlantic coast, but even the area here in the middle of the state is expecting Category I winds and heavy rain. As Governor Scott said, "Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!"

After the storm clears, we'll consider scheduling another gathering.

It would be great fun to meet forum members from the central Florida area. Mind if a nonAxis/Vegas tagged along?
We have a 28Z class C and love to camp.
Think about this as a Thor get-together maybe. Just hoping.
