Made it to Elkhart, IN

We’ve been on a Great Lakes circle trip since April 11th and are headed back to NC with a stop in KY for our grandson’s graduation. On the way we decided to stop in Elkhart for a few days. Holy cow, there are a ton of RVs here - you’d think they were made here or something. Oh yeah, thats why we are here - have a factory tour of the Class C plant lined up for Monday.

We are in the Elkhart Campground and it is a nice place. Big campground with a lot of coaches in it right now. We had dinner at Bacon Hill Kitchen and Pub. Good Q and good craft beers on tap.

I’m looking forward to seeing how my FW is put together so I can take it apart in the future if needed. The retired engineer in me isn’t always retired.

Thanks - it’s on the list for Monday AM. Tomorrow is the Studebaker Museum and Notre Dame.

Should be able to see some sights. It’s going to be 4 hrs of driving a day. I basically drive 8 hrs a day at work so it’s still less than a work day for me. We are just winging it so if we find a place we really like we may just stay for 2 days and back track. I have the option for 1 extra day if need be but I’m trying to save my vacation time for a longer trip to South Dakota in September.

The RV museum is a must...the chocolate factory ain't bad either. Tours include free samples. If you run out of things to do...find the huge ball of teeth. Funny but I found it disgusting. A dentist saved all the teeth he pulled from people's mouths and made a "memorial" with them.

Man, that's on the wrong side of Michigan, but worth a destination in itself.

Back to the OP - I just know that with all the cities along your route: Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, UP itself, Green Bay, Milwaukee, etc; that you could easily take two weeks to do that loop. I hope you have a great trip.

I know there is a lot to see. We are going to camp on Lake Michigan in each state. And will have limited time to see things. I’m sure we will stop in a few towns and get a bit to eat here and there. We’re going to follow the scenic route on the map so it’s gonna be slow going. My wife and I both work 6 days a week usually. This is just a way to get out and do a little sightseeing and some hiking in the dunes and do a little swimming. Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated!
I plan on doing the bike route some day. Probably in sections at a time! But would like to scope it out a bit.
