Microwave/convection oven

Now, about that convection oven. I got out the manual (10 pages max) and tried to cook something simple (tater tots). Having not used a convection oven before I was counting on the manual - and it sucked. It told you what each bottom did, but not how to use. For example - to cook tater tots, do I use the grill or roast bottom? And to brown something, what button do I use?
I am sure that eventually I will figure it out, but some quick start help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance......
Leslie

I agree: We've used it a couple of times and the manual does leave a lot to be desired.

Using it as a microwave is easy peasy. Using it as a convection oven...not so much.

I think when we've used it it was to cook some form of casserole and I just picked a convection temp and length of time, hit go and crossed our fingers.

I know the wife figured out it is imperative to preheat when using the convection side. Still learning, but she is getting much better at it.

Maybe this will help.

It is for the Whirlpool that is in my coach.

RV Micro_Conv Quick Reference Sheet.pdf

You can download the info from Whirlpool's web site by locating your specific model. This one is for the WMH76718AS.

Had a lot of questions on how to use convention oven, utensils, cooking times etc. Also concerned about damaging the oven itself.. Found this manual -- good information, a lot of detail.

I wish our rv had the convection microwave oven like out TT did before. Yes, preheating is the key. Once you get the hang of it you will love it. Ours made the best cinnamon rolls from the canned tube of dough.
