Great photographs.

My camping days don't go that far back but I can remember starting out with the Boy Scouts. Had one of those WWI/WII surplus that buttoned together and thought I was in hog heaven. Mom couldn't afford a sleeping bag for me but she did let me take a couple Army wool blankets. Backpack was surplus from the Army/Navy Store.

My, my...what a long way we come since those days. Thanks for sharing.

I think the RV was invented with the Conestoga Wagon Trains crossing the country years ago. If only we had a lookout running ahead of us, a navigator scouting ahead for best routes and a chuck wagon to cook for us.

As a kid in scouts back in the late 50's, I also had one of those button together pup tents, as did many other boys. You could make a leantoo from one of the halves. An Army/Navy store in Jacksonville, FL, back in those days, sold those surplus tent halves for .50 cents each, a whole tent cost a buck.

The Henry Ford museum (link to RV collection) in Dearborn, MI has a few campers in its vehicle display.

Cool place to visit if you find yourself in the greater Detroit/Southeastern Michigan area (and its safe there too! LOL).

...Soaking wet, and freezing to death in the back yard: those were the days!

The Henry Ford Museum is a great place to visit, so much to see. If you plan to go to Greenfield Village, add another day.

We were traveling through Indiana last summer and decided to take in a tour of the Thor factory in Elkhart, IN where our Challenger was made. We also toured the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum in Elkhart. They had a lot of old vintage RV’s on display. Very interesting and well worth spending a couple of extra days in the area.

I have gone to the RV/MH hall of Fame a few times. Every time I see something I never saw before
