I Think We're Lost!

Our delivery was delayed...

It turns out that the dealership brought in a rig with the wrong color scheme, and it also incurred some damage during transit.
We refused to take it, and (supposedly!), they have one with the correct colors coming in this week...
Do you think that they could have been trying a bit of the "Bait & Switch" game on us, in order to get rid of a vehicle that sat on someone else's lot for over four Months?

That is possible but equally possible is simple incompetence.

Even when the correct unit arrives DO NOT sign anything until it's exactly what/how you want it, dealers tend to forget who you are after you sign on the dotted line.

Bob - in our experience, you are your own best advocate with dealers. if it isn't what you signed up for, it ain't what you signed up for. No guess as to motivation, but again be your own best advocate. Inspect and make certain - once you've signed the paperwork it is your problem. We were very direct with our dealer, no fix - no deal - no check. Turns out the service department is the best thing our dealer had going for themselves.

That iS our plan... the new rig will be here this week. They might try to schedule the delivery for next Saturday.
If it happens: that puppy is going to be looked-over with a bunch of extra-critical eyeballs!

sounds to me more like they received 'this' unit, thought it was yours, and after finding your 'correction' for the color scheme, they found that yours was right behind it this week.... there's no way they could have ordered one and received it this fast otherwise... simple hurried overlook on their part.

and no, dealers don't, and can't, just 'get rid of one that sat on someone else's lot'... whoever 'someone else' is...

Actually, they had told me that mine was coming from Lakewood, NJ, and I had a V.I.N. and an M.S.O. confirming that this was the vehicle...
The replacement is coming from Ohio, and was oredered for someone else, who changed their mind...
(This detail was omitted prior to this, for the sake of brevity.

Unfortunately, salesmen are salesmen, whether they are selling cars or RV's. They only see their pay when they sell a unit. You need to be very definite about what you what. When the 'correct unit' arrives, spend as much time as you need, going over it, making sure it is what you expected, and its equipped they way you want it. If it needs any adjustments, equipment additions, anything, make sure its in the contract before you sign. Make sure the final price is what you expect, believe me its very very negotiable. You would be surprised just how negotiable that final price is. Salesmen are well aware of how true the saying, 'a bird in hand is worth more than two in the bush' is.

I would have to call BS on that one, you just don't lose an RV!!! Either the dealer or Thor knows where their vehicles are at all times until they are sold, sounds like someone is stalling!!!

Not that I am a defender of dealers, but the info they get is that a particular unit has been turned over to the transport company. They sometimes sit in their lot, and are not loaded on the truck, or train, or assigned to the driver when expected, so not really lost, lost, but don't know exactly where in the transport process it may be at any exact moment.
