The newest Florida rest areas along panhandle are indeed nice. I haven't seen the dump stations but that's probably because I park in the front side along with cars, and it would make sense that cars don't need to dump. I'll be driving to Texas in a few weeks and will check them out.

Mississippi rest areas on I-10 definitely have dump stations as you exit -- have used them various times. I like the idea of moving them to truck/RV area to keep them farther away from where all vehicles are picking up speed in order to merge with Interstate traffic.

Don't know if it's related, but have read some reports express concerns on whether the chemicals we use in RV tanks can adversely affect waste treatment systems. Apparently some chemicals can kill organisms required to break down waste, if I recall correctly.

Great.. Thanks. I have not been on I-10 in a while. None on I-75 or 95 that I know of, or the Turnpike.

My wife and I stopped at a few rest areas along the interstates between PA and FL. Some were nice and clean, others were dirty and smelled like urine. Once the day starts to turn into night, the rest areas became overflowing with truckers to the point where they were parking their rigs on the sides of the entrance and exit ramps of the rest area cause all the legitimate parking spots were full. If we did get lucky and find a space, it was usually pretty noisy with the rigs running their generators. Thank god for KOA's along the interstates.

I-95/75/81 are not good choices for overnight rest stop stays - in my opinion. I have done it out west on I-70/80/90 and it is much less crowded and safer.

The mississippi rest areas are some of the nicest I've seen.
but unless you know you'll miss it.....I parked in the normal spaces, either car or truck, go into the building, or whatever..... We parked in the RV.... maybe even had lunch or something there in the parking lot
then as we were done and pulling out, the road wraps around to some great picnic areas that each would make a camp site I'd be willing to pay for..... but we were done so we drove on past...and somewhere in there is the dump station.

That sounds like the furthest west rest area in Mississippi on I-10, just on south side of Interstate. If it's the one I'm thinking of, both east and west bound exit at mile marker 2 (more or less).

In that rest area the dump station is on south side as you drive out, next to individual parking sites. I've never slept in that RV parking area, but have stopped for lunch and used the dump station on way out. It is a nice area. And they provide nighttime security, which is why I've stayed overnight a few times in the auto parking area.
