Traveling W/Dogs in RV

We just purchased a 32 Hurricane and will be taking off on our first road trip soon. We have 2 mini aussies that will be traveling with us and was wondering how other fur babies ride when traveling.

They prefer to sit in both front seats.

Our little buddies ride on the sofa. They can be buckled in to the factory installed seat belts if we so desire, but most times they are not.

Most of the time they ride on the floor between the 2 front seats though. Like the heat from the motor during cool weather. Don’t know how they stand the heat during warm weather though.

We put ours into a vest-style harness, and secure her into her bed. We position that between our front seats, and down on the floor.

Lil' Blondie loves the sofa...she can see everything. Bugsie sleeps in the back bath on a rug.

One of the reasons that we have a motorhome is to make it easier to travel with our dog and cat. The cat hates traveling in a car, gets sick and heaves after just a few minutes. But in the Vegas, he jumps up on the bed and crawls under the covers and sleeps until we stop moving.

The dog usually starts the morning on the DW's lap and then moves to floor around her feet. They are great travelers have a good time seeing the country.

we have our 2 GSDs who are transitioning from a big travel trailer to a more nimble Axis motorhome. My boy likes to hang out by the bed like it is a cozy den and my gal likes to hang out between the front seats. Both are micro-chipped and have I.D. on their traveling collars.

I use a foam dog car seat in both the car and RV, and it works great for two small 10lb dogs; because I don’t have any human passengers. I also have a back seat cover for one car that is fantastic for that car, as the the monsters have taken over the back seat permanently. One thing that seat cover came with was these tethers that go into the seat buckle. You can get them separately, and I thought they would be perfect for the RV couch.

I made a cover for the stairs opening, more for safety as we have a 4 year old boy and a labrador who is a klutz, bless her. This happens to make a nice spot for the dogs bed while moving, out of the way so no stepping over her to move around and secure. The only downside is having to move the dogs bed when you need to get out, but we're ok with this. Oh, and I had to cover the kill switch to stop her resting her chin on it!

Three cats are in crates secured in the living area of the coach. The pup rides on the floor between the two front seats. Ours are all micro chipped with ID on collars.

When we get to a campground we use disposable key tags (the round type) and write our campsite number and phone number on the tags. This is in case someone wanders (hasn't happened, but just in case). These tags are then attached to their collars until we depart that campground.

THAT is a terrific ideal! I’ll be using the disposable key tags on Max’s collar hereafter. Such a simple idea!

Our little guy rides in between the two front seats on the floor. We have to restrict his food/water the day of travels because his stomach gets upset. We usually get him outside at any of our stops along the way.

Our girl was always fine with riding in the SUV while towing our travel trailer. She's not so sure now about riding in the ACE and having the whole "house" moving. She seems to have decided that the only safe place is under my feet on the passenger side. We put her bed there and I use her for a footrest so it works out for all.

She is microchipped and wears a Whistle GPS device on her collar, along with a travel tag that has the make/model and tag number of our toad on one side and the same info about the RV on the other. We also have a radio tracker for when we're out in the boonies with no cell signal. Once camped, her favorite place is the couch.
