Where is our RV

Since our retirement, 8 years ago, we have traveled literally all across the USA and Canada initially by car and in the last 3 years via RV. To put this in perspective, we drove almost 250,000 miles in our large SUV - to include two trips to Alaska. In the last 2 of those years we have spent 7-9 months in our motorhome. Recently we have taken 3 quick up and back auto trips, staying in hotels. Wow - where is our RV!!! Packing, unpacking, hauling luggage, icing the cooler, loading the car, eating in restaurants, sleeping in maybe clean beds, etc.

WHERE IS OUR RV! We are ruined for traveling in hotels rooms after pulling into a rest area - having a lunch at our dinette, sleeping in our own beds. WOW - couldn't go back to the hotel rooms.

LOVE our RV.

We haven't traveled to as many places or as many miles but lovely wife and I feel the same way. It's great to come back at the end of the day to our own stuff spread out in our own home on wheels. If all we want is a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich we can have it right there. Our hobbies, our books, dvds, everything ready and waiting. Plenty to do even on a nasty rainy day.

Dennis and Pam - bingo. We are retired military and primarily stayed in on post housing - like a military hotel. But hotels are still a hotel and NOT our home on wheels. Little things like things in our bathroom medical cabinets - tooth brush, razor, etc. In a hotel pack, unpack - UUGGHH.

I have two years until retirement. My wife and I purchased our 1st RV a year ago. We love it and look forward to traveling across our beautiful country on a full time basis. We take short trips now but love having our own home one wheels while traveling.

I envy everyone traveling right now!

Same here - about two years to retirement

We are so ready to hit the road in the RV! I stay in enough hotels now with my current employment - have no desire to vacation in them.

We retired 20 months ago and bought a 26ft Class C. We enjoy local camping trips but absolutely love touring. It’s an entirely different experience and we were completely surprised at how much we enjoy it. Probably won’t ever be full timers but can easily envision multiple 3 and 4 week trips per year. Go for it!

Couldn't agree more! We love not worrying about who slept in the bed last night! Love our Challenger.

Well said Ben! I will throw one more issue out there to consider when comparing RV traveling to car/motel traveling. Friends of ours, who also have a Challenger coach, decided 2 years ago to take an extended car/motel vacation. After they were home for a week or so they noticed they were both having a rash of some sort, or at least that is what they thought. What had happened was they picked up bed bugs in one of the last motels they stayed in! They only stayed in nice motels, like chain places for between $100 and $150 per night.

They called several exterminator companies and finally contracted with one for around $2,500. The company had them move out for a week. They built a huge tent over their whole house and pumped it full of poison and heat. According to the company they used about 40% or more of the motels in the U.S. have had bed bug problems.

If nothing else would steer you toward traveling in an RV their story would!

We were very lucky - after all our treks never did encounter any bugs. Thought a couple of times of runnig a black light over the bed - then thought - don't really want to know. DW initially started RVing grudgingly, now - she enjoys the freedom and ability to see the US while visiting our family and friends ever bit as much as me.

Our life truly is enriched with our RV.

Took a trip to St Louis last summer with the wife, 2 dogs and 4 kids. Had to take the spare car as there is no place to park a 32' RV in Downtown St Louis. Any way got back and I asked my son how he liked it his response was he did not like sleeping on the couch. My response was it would have been over $1000 for 2 hotel rooms for the week and it was only $200 for the campground. Figure it out and hope you enjoy the RV.

Yep it is a little pricey for the hotel not to mention all the extras that are left over from the last visitor.

We're on short time: just five more years to go!
(You've got to buy these things when you're still working, and can afford to pay for them. )
