Awning Question

I need a little advice, while putting out our awning the last couple of times we've experienced nothing happening initially. We have to hit the switch a couple of times to get it moving. This happens in either direction, putting it out or bringing it in. I'm "hoping" it's just a bad connection at the switch or the switch itself is bad. I want to test the switch.

The question is how do I pull out the switch to check it? We have a '15 38RSSA, the awning is a Dometic which I believe is the "standard" on DRVs

Thanks in advance.

Dan

OMG, I just looked at the (awning) switch, it comes out with two screws! When I initially looked in the control center I was looking at the WIFI Ranger switch!

Geez, I feel pretty stupid right now......

NOT the brightest diode on the board today.

That’s a trick I’d pull.

If anybody told you that you're the first person in the World to do this: they'd be lying through their teeth...
Don't give it a second thought!

The above cover simply pops off and the two securing screws are under the cover, typical for many switches in the RV.

My awnings do the same thing on a 2019.

It is at DRV now, hopefully it will act up while there.

I'm 95% sure my problem is the switch. I took it out of the cabinet, looked a little dirty to me. I don't have any dielectric grease with me (we're in Navarre right now, didn't bring my grease with me) so I'm going to pick some up and pull the switch apart (I hope) and clean up the contacts and lube the connectors.

After wiggling the contacts and wires the awning seems to be operating "normally". I WILL clean up the switch before putting it back together or buy a new one.

Where are you staying in Navarre? We were there last month and liked it so much we booked a month for next winter as well.

Wonderful place with lots to do. Rained a lot whilst we were there but at least it was warm. We stayed at Santa Rosa resort. Do have fun!

An Update: (sorry I almost forgot to let you guys know) I pulled out my awning switch, looked to see if it could be taken apart. I didn't see how it could, it appears to be sealed. I did clean up the tabs on it and applied some dielectric on the connectors. Tested it, it works with no apparent issues, I put it all back together. So far so good.

Oh, BTW Pete, it's been more RAINING here than sunny. Just like you had!

Thanks for the help.

Dan

Well wet or dry it has to beat where I am (Indianapolis). Predicting several inches of snow tomorrow and a high of 14 degrees on Monday! Glad you’re fixed.
