bedroom ac

My ac in the living room works fine. The ac in the bedroom cycles on and off constantly. When its hot outside you have to set it about 57° and it will blow cold air until the temp is down to 73° then it will cycle on and off. Its not your normal cycle time, its every minute or two. Cross RV in Indiana this summer reset the thermostat but it still does it. My only guess at this point is the little white sensor mounted on the ceiling, could that be bad?? Can it be replaced??

Glenn, we had a similar issue with our bedroom AC when we picked our trailer up from the dealer. Ours would read a very low inside temp at the thermostat which made the AC unit cycle on and off every couple of minutes. The temp probe was bad from the factory and they had to replace it. They had to run a new one from the AC unit to the small plastic vent in the ceiling where the probe lays. Once it was replaced the AC started working fine and the thermostat started reading the correct inside temp. Hope this helps.

Thanks Hunter. So your saying the whole line had to be replaced? I was hoping that just the 'sensor' on the end of the wire could be replaced. Maybe solder a new one on? This reply gives me hope because both the DRV dealer here in Lake Havasu City, AZ and Cross RV in Indiana couldn't figure it out.

Glenn, no they could not add just a new end to the wire or solder it. They tried that at first and Dometic told them this would not work so they had to run a new one from the AC unit to the plastic ceiling vent. And it had to be a certain length to work correctly. They tried one from another unit and it helped but did not make it work correctly because the wire was about 4' to long.

This is good to know, thanks again. I'm only a mile from a DRV dealer here and will run this info by them.

If you push the "Inside Temp" button on the thermostat with it set to the zone your bedroom AC is on does it read the same temp as the inside temp? When we did that with ours it would read about 15* under what the actual temp was inside. That was due to the faulty thermistor on the bedroom AC which was causing our issue. Just one more thing you can look at.

I have a 'duo therm confort control' and it doesn't have a 'inside temp' button unless I'm missing something. Using a aux thermometer I'm like you, its set on 60° and the bedroom is 75°.

I had the same issue with the bedroom AC on our 2014 MS. It was the temp sensor. A new one had to be ran.

Seems like a pattern is developing here. I wonder if DRV or Dometic is a fault? Thanks Mike!

I think it's a Dometic thing. The mobile RV tech that I used said it was a common issue. Dometic covered it under warranty.

Mine is now nine years old, I'm sure its not covered. Too bad the previous owner didn't take care of it!
