Wheel bearings
Took my hub off my wheel for the first time today and expected to see a grease zerk, nothing I thought during the walk thru the guy said that. How do I get grease to the bearings?

The old-fashioned way--pull the bearing halves and repack by hand with good grease, reinstall.

I agree. The zerk fitting is useless in the hub. The old school way is the best.

Agree with above also. You can do a proper inspection of bearing condition while you're at it.

Completely disagree! I have not looked at my bearings once in 4 years. I lift the wheel off the ground and give it a push pull test to feel for play in bearings. They have been JUST RIGHT. So I pop the cap have someone spin the wheel while I pump a hand held grease gun. I use AMZ/OIL Synthetic grease. I simply keep wiping off the old grease as it comes out. Once the fresh grease appears I quit pumping screw the cap back on and good to go!!!

I keep an infrared gun in my cab and shoot the hubs when I stop. If the hubs are all within 10-20 degrees of each other I think we are fine.

I’m confused, I took my hub off yesterday, took the small black piece out of the clear cap and there was no zerk.

Glad that that works for you, but on a couple of occasions I discovered a little water ingress into my bearings, I wouldn't have seen that by just pumping more grease in. The other thing to bear in mind is that at some point dirty grease from the inner bearing is going to make its way to the outer bearing. It doesn't take me long to disassemble, clean and repack. I can also check out the brakes thoroughly when doing this.

If no grease zerk, on that new a model, they must be standard greasable bearings.

If you're using the same grease, then new grease will appear to appear when the outer bearing is flushed. There's still old grease from the inner bearing in there somewhere. It takes a lot of grease to completely flush out complete hub. I'll stick with packing (using a packer) so that I can inspect the bearings thoroughly.

It DOES take a lot of grease to flush out all the old grease. But I can do my 4 wheels in a few minutes.
When I go to the preferred oil bath system it will be a rare thing to do any maintenance at all.
I will be dis assembling and cleaning the bearings completely then replace the rear seal with a Quality National Oil Seal then lube the bearings assemble adjust and fill with AMZ/OIL 75-90 SevereGear.

The cap seals to deteriorate and break down. If this happens then the gear oil will leak out. And if you have no idea that it is happening. It will be some $$ to repair the damage.

This is the reason they stopped installing oil bath. The seals were POS and so were the "O" rings. If you use QUALITY products the system will work for many thousands of miles. See below.

The real benefit of using EZ lube hubs and why they first appeared on marine trailers is that they fill completely with grease, so no place for water
If you pump while spinning the tire, the cavity is filled with grease completely and no place for water
