I've used spray foam in other applications, but I think that it would be difficult to use in the large openings of the front and rear cap. I've filled every hole up and down, and around every opening/crack,seam in the bottom covering of the trailer. If you attempted to apply it from the running lights, it would probably stick to the sides before it fell to the bottom, and leave the bottom open. Perhaps drilling holes from the closet side would work, but again, it would be difficult to control. So, I see 3 choices: go in from the closet and glue in styrofoam, attempt to spray in expansion foam from the closet or the running lights, or blow in insulation from the running lights. To me, the decision was a simple one.

I am having the same guy that did Clev's trailer come out and do our caps Friday. We will be able to tell very quickly how much this helps due to the fact our trailer is facing West and the temps are in the low 100's here for the next 7 days. Right now the front wall of our bedroom closet is reading 88* on my infrared thermometer and the temp outside is 101*. I will check the wall temp Friday afternoon at this same time and see what it reads with the cap full of insulation. I will also try and get some pictures during the project.

Hunter, I’m surprised that you’re only reading 88. Mine was like an oven, and I did keep it closed due to the heat.

Well Clev now that you mentioned it my wife had gone in earlier this Summer and lined the walls of the closet with Reflectix trying to help with the heat because she has a lot of "Stuff" in there and I took the reading from that. I just went back in there and pulled a piece back and took another reading off the wood and it was showing 92* so a 4* increase. Just seeing readings that high tells me our batt insulation has probably fallen down. We will see what the readings are Friday after he fills it with insulation.
And yes we have to keep the closet doors closed at this time of day or the bedroom AC would never shut off.

My idea of doing spray foam is to have someone pull the front cap and spray the backside (Front) of the closet. Then trim the foam so that the cap still fits. If you wanted to do a 2 part pour foam that is a low expansion, that too would work, but it's liable to be messy if it runs inside or out the bottom of the cap.
We used both spray foam and pour foam in the yacht business. Insulated live wells, freezers, walk in coolers, etc this way. I don't think having the front too ridged is an issue.

If you put split wire loom around the wires before spraying wires won’t be a problem, done it many times on other projects. Use a loom a couple of sizes larger, tape closed about every 6-10 inches, and secure before spraying.

You could use loom, but that would be a TON of work. You would have to pull the cap to do it. My other concern of spray foam would be a fire hazard. Plus the upper and maybe other marker lights are the cheap crimp on one that easily fail.

by spray foam, are you guys talking about the rattle ca stuff for doors, windows, etc...?
I can't imagine that working, I've tried using that stuff to fill cavities a few times...never had much luck with anything more than a crack just too wide for caulk....just made messes with it.
I've often wondered about the stuff they spray into house walls.

I am not removing our caps to have them spray foamed. To big of a job for me and I don't have the time for it. Plus with my luck somehow I would scratch the paint in removal or reinstalling them.

This is what I have used, it's Fire Resistant & Water Repellent and Reduces Sound. It won't drop or sag over time either.

Yeah, I'd agree about the overkill. Still pondering this dilemma, yet to do an accurate assessment of our trailer.
