Ceiling fan replaced - found one that fits

As previously reported, our ceiling fan fell off at one month old.
Several options for fans later I finally found a fan small enough to work.

Monte Carlo Fans 20". Brushed silver, bronze and white.

Pictures 1, 2 and 3
The fan attaches to an E box, E box attached to piece of plywood, plywood screwed to supporting plywood above. I removed all but two of the end staples. Some Titebond wood glue and 1 1/4" deck screws.

On our trailer the piece of plywood in the ceiling you can see is not the roof sheathing. About 1/4 to 1/2 inch above that is the sheathing.

With the slide all the way in and the standard drop rod, the fan just clears the slide by 1/4 to 3/8 inch

I will probably use a pool noodle on two of the blades to keep it from swinging into the slide.

Airflow is pretty good for such a small fan. Even if it was minimal it is still better then the factory fan.

Glad to hear that you have it mounted up securely and are able to have some air movement.

Some additional notes.

I don't know if a longer down rod is available.

The fan can be flush mounted, although I did not try that to see if "flush" was deep enough to clear the pocket.

I left the two end staples to keep the proper postion of the junction box.
The board with the stapes easily pushed back into place.

It has been some years ago, but we replaced the original ceiling fan in our 2010 MS 38TKSB3 with a 42" Hunter 5-blade fan. The original got to making noise, and we had always had good luck with Hunter fans in our homes over the years, so we went with another in the RV.

We didn't go through all that the OP did, however. But, we did end up with a light kit on the fan as well.

Terry
I went the route shown here because:
a) my fan fell off the ceiling and was damaged (also damaged the woodwork, see picture)
b) the original fan was so close to the ceiling there was no air flow

I could have waited until my appointment for service, but I would just end up with another fan that did not move air.

Duane,

Yeah, our MS is a 2010, so things appear to be a lot different now. Our ceiling fan's blades are at least 6 inches or so away from any woodwork. However, we found that the best way to get air circulation with the fan is to always run it in reverse so that it draws air from below and then "fans" it up to the ceiling and out to the sides.

Either the fan blade pitch is different or the extra blade on the Hunter gave us something of a breeze when running.

My original fan blades cleared the woodwork because it was so close to the ceiling.
The damage circled was caused when the fan fell off the ceiling mount and bounced around

Our fan fell off also and think it did so on the trip home from the dealer. I don't know who the genius was who thought 6 staples would hold a ceiling fan is place was, but, he needs to have his IQ test redone.
