Warm fridge
Out for the 1st time this year, don't think my Samsung refrigerator is working. Lights are on but the freezer is still about 28 degrees. Been plugged in 4 days now. Any suggestions?

28 degrees is below freezing, right?

Freezer should be zero degrees or a few below that. You may have a freon issue. The residential fridge should cool down to normal operating temps in less than 4 hours.

Strange, I just checking my freezer compartment in the home refrigerator, my freezer in the basement and the freezer compartment in my MH, all three of them are reading 28-26 degrees. I've never heard of a home or residential freezer going to 0 degrees. Foods will freeze at 31 degrees or lower, don't really see a need for zero degrees. My RV fridge takes approximately 6-8 hours to bring it down to operating temperature.

Quote from FDA:
"Answer: You should keep your freezer temperature at or below 0° F, says the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. At that freezer temperature, the growth of harmful bacteria will be halted — indeed, foods that are kept constantly frozen at 0°F or lower will keep safe indefinitely, notes the FDA."

From .... University of Nebraska
https://food.unl.edu/refrigerator-and-freezer-storage
Keep your freezer at zero degrees (0°) or below to maintain the quality of frozen foods.
Most foods will maintain good quality longer if the freezer temperature is -10 to -20°F. At temperatures between 0 and 32°F, food deteriorates more rapidly. Fluctuating temperatures, such as those in self-defrosting freezers, also may damage food quality. Do not plan to store frozen foods for the maximum suggested time if your freezing unit cannot maintain zero degree temperatures. Even foods stored properly will lose color, texture, flavor and nutritional quality but will not cause food-borne illness.
Freezer temperatures, however, do not destroy pathogenic or spoilage microorganisms, which will begin growing under warmer temperature conditions. When frozen foods are thawed at room temperature, the surface of the food warms enough for microorganisms to grow and multiply.
If your freezer does not have a built-in thermometer, check the temperature frequently.
One easy way to estimate the freezer's temperature is to check the consistency of ice cream stored inside the compartment. If the ice cream is not brick-hard, the temperature of your freezer is too warm.
A warning light or other device may be installed to warn you if the freezer is not operating correctly. A plug protector may be used to keep the electrical plug in the outlet.
Time is an important factor in maintaining high-quality frozen foods. Frozen foods will not last forever. The chart on the associated page lists the maximum length of storage times to help you maintain quality food products.
Label frozen food items, maintain a rotation system and use the items with the oldest dates first.
Allow proper air circulation in the freezer.
More importantly, Ice Cream is too soft if kept close to 32.
Good luck

Seems we got off subject again lol, any ideas of what could be wrong with a new fridge only used 1 week?

our fridge is not Samsung ... however, in the past all seemed to operate the same ... do you have it on Auto setting (on the front of refrigerator) when on the road ?
Sometimes we overlook the basic. Keep us posted !

Would it be worth having the coolant checked out?
Perhaps something important in the cooling system got damaged during installation?

Not familiar with the Samsung, but the Whirlpool has separate temp settings for freezer and fridge settings--any way to change your freezer setting?
And our WP gets way below 'freezing' 32d temp.....

You should have a control center. Mine looks just like this no matter how many hours I drive. KitchenAid Residential.

I would turn them both all the way up to start with and see if you get max cool and freeze. If so, adjust accordingly. If not, have freon checked...the system may have gotten damaged and leaked out...or maybe "something" chewed through something.

Read the instruction manual again...something isn't set quite right.....
If your Sammy was shut off (without power) it reverts to the default settings, so you must go thru the process of resetting temps for the freezer/fridge & ice maker..

Which brings up another question I have...this is my first with res fridge. So far, I keep the coach plugged in at home and leave fridge on. After all..it is a residential fridge. I have a 27 year old fridge in the garage that survived a total house fire...still going. Do you guys do this or shut it down? It's nice to go out there some evenings with the wife and watch the news or play like we're a million miles from nowhere...for a few minutes.
Hey Cummins...is that a container of prunes sitting right next to the Stella?? Man does that label our age!!!!
