A person on Facebook mounted a metal gang box onto the factory’s gang box and brought the stock fan down maybe an inch. I did not think it would really help as it was still close to the ceiling and the pitch of the blades is hardly any. Plus the stock fan CAN NOT have a down rod. It is only able to be flush mounted.

Maybe in your world, but it worked in mine. Just have to know what you're doing.
You have posted this misinformation twice now.

My bad Bill, chalk it up to fake news....
I donated the fan at Goodwill as soon as it came down.

Thanks for the update. We will be moving this Thursday and we’ll use the towel if needed.

Great upgrade and remedy for when traveling. When I get ready to replace our fan, I will upload some photos as well. Still considering the longer down rod to clear the facade of the slides. Have a fix in mind for the swaying too!

By pushing the blade on top of the slide is it tweaking it so it's out of balance?

Been using it 12 plus hours a day for 4 day’s since our move. Just as quite and no movement, besides the blades when on.

Looking at my trailer yesterday with the slides in.
If the fan was centered between the slides (retracted) it could be dropped any distance.

I agree! Will most likely install a 12 inch download with my new fan. Considering a 42 inch or larger!

I just ordered a 43” with an 18” downrod, and will cut it to have the blades just below the dining slide. I will probably stabilize the fan by putting a screw/bolt through the hanger bracket and ball.

With the straight line, full height roofs of the newer rigs, below the slides seems to be a viable option

Dropping way down would work on my door side slide but no way on entertainment/kitchen slide.

I could see it working. To me I think it would be a bit to low and would just not look right. My concern would be if it swung. As the impact point would more then likely be the vinyl ceiling of the dinning room slide. Post some pics when you do it and I would be more then happy to add this idea to the first post as another option. I hope it works out for you.

Moved 250 miles yesterday in the rolling hills of sw MO. Turned blades of fan so that they were 45 degrees from centerline of front to back. Blades did not touch either slide. As a precaution, my wife fashioned some “booties” from heavy felt cloth that she slipped on the blades. Worked great. Since the “booties” were pinned instead of sewing, I’ll wait until she sews them before posting photos.

Thanks again Ryan for the original post...John

I thought about fan blade condoms, but the towel over the slide header seems to be keeping in place. This is after about 500 miles now. But I look forward to seeing your solution.

Glad to hear that you are loving it as much as I do. I placed your pic in the first post to show the black one. Thanks

If that is directed at me, I don't know what I did wrong. There's a lot on this thread working with these fans, and if porkchop has a fix, I asked that he post it and not criticize. If there's a problem with that, I'll delete my post; I don't want conflict.
