Talking A functional ceiling fan!!

I hated the factory fan. Not only did it not move any air, it would strobe the LED down lights when on. The solution!!!

The Monte Carlo Colony II fan. It comes is a couple of different finishes. We bought the brushed nickel one. It should have 3/4 of an inch clearence from the dinette slide when traveling.

https://www.amazon.com/Monte-Carlo-4...0010XTRZA?th=1

Ipuller put a white fan in his. Below is a pic of it.

Skiranch put a black fan in his. Below is a pic of it.

*********** UPDATE ***********
The fan blades do not clear the slide. As I did not consider that the slide raises several inches when pulled in. See pic below.

My cure was to place a towel over the slide trim and take a blade onto the top of the slide. When doing that it stayed in place on our travel. See below pic.

Conclusion, I do not regret buying the fan. It really moves air and does not strobe the lights.

Below is Juicesqueezer fan replacement. He used a larger fan and added an extension bar so that the blades are under the slide top when closed up.

I agree the factory fan does not produce much if any breeze. One of the reasons is the fact that it is recessed. Nice upgrade! What is the fan size? I am thinking of going with the 60" size. With slides in, it still works!

I just don't see how I could go any lower with my fan blades as they are barely above kitchen slide when it's in.

It is only a 28 inch fan, and being that small you only have to worry about the dinette slide. But the HUGE difference is the pitch of the blades.

Ron, the kitchen slide is not a factor with this fan.

See the pitch difference? If you need some more pictures or measurements let me know.

It's simply the fact that it is away from the ceiling. As installed from the factory they can not "catch" enough air to create a breeze. I simply got a 8" down rod and lowered the factory fan. Works great now, However I do like the style you picked out.

Agreed. Great observation, and fix.

Bill, I agree that the more space that you have off the ceiling is better. But the pitch of the blade is also important. I first installed it flush mounted and got much more air movement then the OE fan. And now that I installed the down rod that came with it it was a HUGE improvement.

As a side note: When you measure and you don't have enough room for the slide to clear, you can make your own down rod length. I did this all the time, so if you only need a 5" instead of the size they offer, you can cut the rod and make it work.

It is not designed to have a down rod, only flush mounted. You can a spacer of some sort to bring down the fan.

Dave, if your fan is a flush mount, you would have to replace the fan with one that has a down rod. You should be able to get a nice one at Home Depot or Lowes for around $60. I would opt for a 52" if you have the clearance. Larger blades equal more air, less speed.

OK now I see how it works since your blade diameter is less yours will not hit the kitchen slide!

I agree! I will have to see if they make the same in oil rubbed bronze finish.

Just checked they call it "Roman Bronze".
