Great post! If anyone is looking at installing also look for tv's that have "smart view" as one of the "inputs". Will automatically transfer picture & sound from ph,tablet, laptop, to the tv screen. GREAT while rig is in motion. All 3 of our Samsung's have this. And all new devices have this. On my Samsung phone it's called "Smart View". Called something similar on other devices.

I just use an HDMI cable from the laptop to the TV. On the TV remote just go to the source button.

Yes. Smart View Source is in place of HDMI Source. Automatic no cables.

Note that if your device has "Smart View" you can also project it to a Windows 10 PC. Simply look in the start menu (on the PC) for an app called "Connect".

More detailed instructions can be found here.

That's another great option and the only reason I bring it up is because I already had it on the TV in my phones and never knew it or how to use it. The most simplest way to hook up by pressing one button no additional apps excetera all Wireless.

I love going wireless and streaming. I think it is a great answer for those of us with RV's and those who just travel in general.

I think the days of the old Satellite dish are winding down. I had one for about 8 years and dealing the Dish Network is enough to make anyone scream. I love our current setup and like I said in another post the hotspot gives me the added luxury of having an internet connection anywhere we go --- not just RVing.

Enjoy the road. We do.

Don

Antenna, stream from device or DVR or just enjoy the beauty of Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon I'll have later time in my life to be watching TV it's really not that important to us as far as the overall scheme of traveling that is just our family though. On my last two rigs I did have the in-motion satellite systems for our DirecTV. This time around not even necessary. I thought it was a waste of money to buy have installed and the upkeep once again that's just my style of RV travel now.

That is an issue. And not all cell phone carriers are the same when it comes to coverage. That is all part of the consideration. It is a similar situation as having a satellite dish and no line of sight to the satellites... no signal.

I suppose when that happens, it's time to go fishing. :-)

Alternates

I was in the southwest this year and found the wifi greatly improved. Several parks had a fee for the better connection. I don;t mind paying a reasonable fee if the service is good enough for Netflix.
I do use a wifi antenna. You can get one on amazon for approx $40. Get the one that looks like white book. I put it on a pole above the unit and point it at the park antenna. Improves the signal greatly.
For TV I long since gave up on Wyngard antennas of any type. They just don't have the range. Again, I went to Amazon and got a HD antenna with 100 mile range for under $50. I built a portable mast that I can erect in 20 minutes.
These antenna have a rotator to move the antenna to get the signal. The web site TVfool.com is useful. Input your address and it gives the direction to point your antenna to tune in local stations.
