I believe the premise on fuel tax is to fund roads. But who knows if it all really goes there or not. We need to invest in updating a TON of bridges that are showing there age.

Fuel taxes were originally earmarked for the Federal Highway Trust Fund, but our politicians in Washington have raided this trust fund to channel money to their pork barrel projects, leaving it short of money for its intended purpose. I agree that our transportation infrastructure is crumbling, but when the funds intended to maintain it are diverted for other purposes, that's what's gonna happen.

Speaking of rebuilding some of our old bridges that are in need of replacement. Didn't our President say the first huge stimulus package was to rebuild all these old bridges. I would be curious on how many of those were rebuilt from that package...

Stock Market

Just take a look at the stock market today. My 401K goes down as the price of gas goes down. Can't win!

You might consider adjusting your 401k investments.

In the '70's a popular bumper sticker sticker was "Drive 70 and Freeze a Yankee". I can't feel bad for the Texas oil industry and hope prices go lower but I know they will go back up so I'll enjoy it while I can.

Nobody likes to see people lose their jobs but life goes on. There's always two sides to a story, the good and the bad. I'll take the "affordable" fuel prices now because sooner or later I'm going to be paying the price again.

In the eighties we had deregulation in the trucking biz, all sorts of people lost good paying jobs, that was bad, the good was it created competition within the industry. I ended up struggling, being in the wrong industry at the wrong time, today some of these oil rig workers are feeling the same pain, I feel for them. Not going to lose any sleep over it though as I'm sure they weren't too concerned about truck drivers back in the day. Just my two cents.

Seems the entire market has been following oil prices lately. Peculiar for sure.

Another edge to that sword..........when I pay 2 dollars per gallon rather than the nearly 4 I paid in late 2014 when heading south...........I have extra money to spend somewhere else. On my fixed pittance from SS that extra cash doesn't end up in the Caymann's. You'll find it spent at a restaurant, theater, steak rather than chicken or flaunted on my Grandsons. It goes back in the economy.

Actually if you remember we got a whole lot less stimulus than what was originally asked for.

Noticing it too. Here in So. California, regular gas is around $3.05 and diesel is $2.69. Never have seen diesel cheaper.

You can thank me for that. I recently traded my diesel for a gas rig. :-(

I have a 3 thousand mile trek north in April, 300 gallons. I hope these prices hang around awhile. Saving 600 dollars really helps my budget, especially after that SS increase, of nothing.
