I'm still curious, what stops (most of the time) the slide from falling out like that?

On hydraulic systems it would be the length of the ram. There is an easily accessible adjustment on it but when it runs out of travel it's done.

Do the electric ones stop, when they pull the electrical connections apart?

Mine is hydraulic, but I could become paranoid thinking about stuff like this. I wonder if this happened on their first time extending the slide?

The up side is it would be a great time to replace that couch with some nice recliners.

My slides have an inside flange on 3 sides. There’s no way that could happen.

If you look at the inside of the slide you will see a lip on the top and sides that contact the wall on the way out. On the Schwintek systems when the controller sees a spike in current due to the slide stopping, the controller initiates the "stop moving out" sequence.

When my Cyclone was brand new and on the 750 mile ride home, the nuts on the hydraulic ram were apparently not tight and worked their way all the way out.

I got home at 1:30am and of course my wife wanted to see our fancy new rig.

I put the slides out and the main slide kept going !

Watching all the interior trim start to fold in as the slide was pushing out set us in a slight panic mode. I stopped, retracted the slide and went to bed.

Turns out there was some minor damage and I don't think the slide would have gone far enough to fall out. But I'll also never know. (June 2009)

Would like more info...

Our Hurricane has the "Lips" on the top and sides that make contact with the wall when extended but it is me taking my finger off the button that stops the motor.

All kidding aside...I'd like to know more about what happened to the OP's coach that allowed the slide to go past it's intended stops in case our Hurricane has a similar problem.

Also, how did you get home?

And how was the slide fixed?

I'll bet that he was thinking the exact same thing...

It wasn't the OP's coach, he just posted the picture.

You should not remove your finger from the Slide in/out button until it has stopped moving for at least 5 seconds. Otherwise you motors will get out of synch and you'll have bigger issues.

Does it really take a full five seconds?
(I was thinking maybe just two or three... )

NO...I just hold it couple seconds or until I hear the motors "gear down". Five seconds while holding a slide in the fixed position should be done while sitting on the toilet...or in n RV service department.

Funny thing is we are camping today and as we were walking this guy with a semi is pulling a toy hauler. His slide was out about a foot and I stopped to him to tell him. The guy was an ass and said yeah I know that’s so I can pull in my Mercedes. I guess I was interrupting him but this is what I imagine causes some slides to eventually just fall out.

How about if you're sitting on the toilet of an RV that's on the lot, and for sale?
