Regardless of which axle he has, on a DRV, it will be greater than, or equal to, 8000 pounds.

DRV used 7000 lb axles on many models for years.

2000 pounds difference on the front to rear tire is most likely a bad shear spring.
1300 difference side to side sure seems high.

And after the first time I saw the guy with the scales just throwing them around, I figured there is no way I would trust his equipment.

If you have a bad shear spring I would change both on that side.

No they are not. My expeierence with MOR/ryde is you get top quality, professional work performed at an hourly cost that tends to be much lower then most shops.

Although the hourly rate has gone up with the expansion,. it still tends to be a bargain compared to other outfits.

Don,
Have you actually seen the wheel specs on the inside of the wheel?
I had the need to take mine off yesterday to get a valve stem replaced and I noticed that mine are rated @ 6050#.

Their RV is a 2016 and their pic shows this wheel. Indeed it has a plenty large enough rating.

Spec right from trailertiresandwheels.com web site.

The weigh team found that my drivers side trailer rear tire was at 4950. Kind of figures since all of the appliances, etc. are on that side.
However, I need to upgrade the wheels as well -- since they are rated at the same 4805. Alcoa 17.5 wheels have a 6050 rating.

Any discussion would be appreciated. I plan on making the switch over the winter. (5) tires and wheels will soon be for sale.

There are 2 Hi Spec 17.5" wheels identical to that picture--one is the 4800" and the other is the 6000#. Can't tell difference by looking at them...
I just had my GYs changed out and never thought to look at the rim rating.

The one in the pic that is 6k rated is what is on our RV's. The other two they sell are 1/2-9/16" studs.

What tires did you go with Joe? I just had a Goodyear prorated with a cost of $177 to me. When my Goodyear’s go I am going to try out some Continental tires. The one I was looking at is a J rated tire also.

Ryan,
I wanted to go back to the Sailuns I had such good luck on last Suites--many, many miles with no problems. But could not find someone to mount the tires if I got them from SimpleTire like I did the last ones.
Went to a tire shop in Livingston, TX, that gives discounts to Escapees members--got Cooper Roadmaster RM170s in 235x75x17.5--6005lbs each.
This tire rating is why I am asking about the current wheels.
It got all 4 tires swapped, mounted, balanced and old ones disposal fee--$990.
They also rotated the fronts and outer rears on the 450 at $15 each.
If you are ever in Livingston, TX--check out Premier Tire, they know RV tires.

When I was at LCI for the jack replacement--there was a Suites from Austin, TX in for same jack deal. While talking to him, noted he had damage from tire problem, and when looking closer at his GYs, another was fixing to cut loose. He already had 4 Contis waiting for him over at Morryde and got them changed out there. I am sure the Contis are good tires, but about in the GY/Mich price range.

Joe

WOW!! 179 a tire. I am paying that for a prorated Goodyear. Let me know how you like those Cooper tires and how they hold up.

Plain and simple GY will take care of their tire issues and any damage, no one else will.

I had mine all replaced by GY and the new ones show zero signs of de lamination.

No one one here that i know of has more axle weight than I do and the GY "H" tires are just fine for the weight.

Some will say they have not enough reserve capacity, ya think the tires don't have a safety margin built in already just like any other product that is rated???

Way too early to know about the Coopers, but I expect them to be as good as anything else I could have put on.
They were $224 ea/$199ea with Escapees Discount--rest was mounting/balancing/disposal/excise tax/sales tax.
I have found it is somewhat difficult to come across a tire shop that can handle large RVs--not exactly wanting to go to a truck stop. Discount Tire won't touch a 17.5/19.5 tire, others that might can't break the beads with their machines. I had a rotation done on my 450 once that only used tire tools--neat, but left marks on the rims.
Big O and Les Schwab out west are 2 places that are good to use if out that way. If you can plan the timing, OR/MT has no sales tax.

Kicking myself for not checking on wheel rating when had the tires changed...is DRV putting the 6050 tires on the units?

Don,
Do you know that you DON'T have the 6050 wheels already?

Even if I have only the 4850 wheels, but put the 6005 tires on, see no actual problem with the lower wheel rating because it still is seeing less weight than the 4850 rating. Also, I trust a wheel rating is able to handle excess weight better than a tire is....so now have the higher rated tires on the ??? rated rims.
Meant to get an individual weight at Escapees, but they did not have a slot available when I was ready to leave.

The only wheel that can be put on a DRV with 5/8 studs is the 6k rated wheel. Simply look at their web site. The wheels are EXACTLY the same EXCEPT for the mounting stud size.

5/8 studs wheels are a clamping type lug nut and the wheel opening fits tightly around the hub naming those "HUB CENTRIC", the 1/2 and 9/19 are a tapered lug and are called "LUG CENTRIC". Lower rating is from the type of attachment.

ALL 5/8 DRV's with 5/8 lugs in the wheel type shown in the pic above ARE 6k rated plain and simple.

Ron,
Thank you for the clarification--hope Don is still around and reading this. My RSSA has the flange on the nut so must be the 6050...would save about $1000 on a changeout.
Older Suites could have had the 1/2 or 9/16" lugs, depending on the brake/axle size. Did not know the newer ones had the 5/8" lugs.

Joe

Our 07.5 MS had 8k axles but the studs were 9/16". I went to 17.5 Aloca's from 16". To get Alcoa's high enough rated the holes had to be 5/8. So I bought 5/8 wheel studs from Kodiak and swapped them with the existing 9/16. I bought the mounted and balanced GY "H" tires on the 17.5" Alcoa's from TrailerTiresAndWheels.com.
