Congratulations on finding what you want: how much are you willing to pay for it?

(That's the only question that matters...)

Good luck with the negotiations!

I recently purchased a 2017 F150 and this is the deal my local North Carolina Ford dealer gave me.

- Invoice price
- 1/2 of their holdback
- No documentation fees
- Whatever rebates apply ( at the time I bought there was a big rebate )

Truck had been sitting on their lot and they were happy to give me that deal.

If it were a RAM selling at Dennis Dillon or Dave Smith in Idaho it would be Dealer cost minus incentives.

Ask to see invoice--that is maximum to pay, less any/all incentives. Also ask to see the Vincent printout--that is the official Ford document with all available incentives based on the VIN and buyer zipcode. At that point, you are really close to what they can do.

I don't know--all they can say is 'No'. But, how about you go into business selling Widgets that cost you $100, and you put a list price on it about $140--and someone wanted you to sell it to him at $100, would you be wanting to just jump on that offer?
Be real, not all the posts you read about 'less than cost' have any real meaning to them...
Sure, there are some hidden $$ around for the dealers--most called 'holdback' that rewards them for selling lots of units, and some few dealers move enough to give up some of their holdback in a deal.
The best deal is one that the seller AND the buyer are happy with the terms afterwards.
Keep that in mind...

"Happy"; or "Equally Unhappy"?

In June when Ford starts manufacturing 2019s, that truck will be two model years back. I'd expect the dealer should be highly motivated to accept a low yet reasonable offer.

See if you can get an X-Plan pin number which is $100 over cost.

Good luck.

I could get x plan on a 18, was hoping to get lower than that on a 17.

Have you found THE truck, or just a '17 that may be a good deal? I have found over the years that I was happier with THE truck rather than the cheapest deal on a not-perfect truck...

It sounds to me as if it's time to make them an offer.
The worst that they can do; is refuse it.
Good luck!

Being as how the '18s are already on the road, '17s are going to be gone soon--I would work from invoice less incentives--get that number, then see what more they might do, if anything. If you have a trade, keep it out of the deal if you can until you get to a firm number on the truck alone.

Have them at $2000 below invoice, minus rebates, about $60000!
